This is what happens when a car company that is known for frugal, well built and reliable transportation suddenly gets in the muscle car game. Hardly noticed then and for many years to follow due to the sea of Fords, GM's and Mopars, they are now finally coming into their own and have become quite sought after. Hard to find because they didn't build a huge amount and the ones they did mostly fell into the wrong hands.
Rare today to find a mostly stock example. That is, until now. Here we have an example that looks like one you would have looked at used on the AMC lot around 1972. Some wear but nothing severe. One thing (other than the obvious) that makes this car special is the addition of the factory Go-Pack. This performance option which included... - 390 V8 - Limited Slip Differential - Dual Exhaust - Heavy Duty Cooling - Power Brakes - Heavy Duty Suspension - 5 Spoke brushed wheels - Center Stripes In addition to that, this AMX is also equipped with power steering and a 'Shift Command' automatic floor shifted transmission.
Finished in code correct Butternut Beige (code 77A) with a saddle interior, this car was lightly restored decades ago but has been sparingly used since and has held up nicely. A very solid and straight body showing little to no previous body repair. A clean undercarriage that also shows no previous signs of repair. In other words, this is a GOOD ONE! With just 8,293 AMX models produced in 1969 and of those just 2,183 with the automatic transmission and 390 V8, this is not only a good one but a rare one. Overall a very nice, straight, clean and stock condition car. Not a concourse show winner but still one you'd be proud to show off. This is what I will call a VERY STRONG number 3 car. Leave it alone ( I would) and enjoy it or bring it to the next level. It's all up to you but one thing is for sure, it will be a very long time, if ever before we get another one of these in.
