For Sale: 1990 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio in Solon, Ohio

Vehicle Description

According to Hemmings the Alfa Romeo Spider became, "a beloved classic, right off the showroom floor...For the better part of 30 years, Alfa Romeo built the quintessential Italian roadster in its evergreen Spider, a car that embodied mechanical sophistication, refined sportiness, and timeless grace.” Alfa Romeo ceased production of the classic Spider in 1994 and Hemmings stated, “...values of those end-run cars are on the rise, making them a buy-now proposition.”

For sale is an original owner, 1990 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio in very good condition. Beloved, pampered and driven primarily on special occasions, this Spider has only 38,242 true miles on the odometer. It is a non-smoker’s car. Runs great, drives great, and looks even better.

The Quadrifoglio Spider was the premium, high-performance sport model of the series - this is not a Veloce or Graduate model! This Spider comes complete with the rare factory hard top option. Three ways to travel - completely convertible, with ragtop up, or with hard shell on.

Car was garaged throughout its life and is in very good condition. All wear items were checked prior to posting the vehicle for sale including all belts, hoses, fluids, battery, tires and clutch. Over $3,000 of servicing was completed by a premium import mechanic at odometer reading 38,221 to bring the vehicle to an excellent mechanical condition including change of oil & filter, new battery, new wiper blades, replacement of brake line, four-wheel brake fluid flush, re-balancing of tires, replacement of a cooling fan, and total clutch replacement (clutch disc, pressure plate & throw out bearing). Only twenty miles have been put on the odometer since servicing was completed.

The car features legendary Pininfarina design and is finished in Argento Metallic (AR767) with a black convertible top. The twin-cam 2.0-liter inline-four is equipped with Bosch fuel injection and was factory-rated at 120 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Factory instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Exterior features include Quadrifoglio badging and a power antenna as well as body-colored mirror caps, valances, and side skirts. Additional equipment includes a color-matched removable hardtop, 15″ Ronal wheels, power windows, air conditioning, and a factory cassette stereo.

Known issues: Superficial rust present at lower door and jams. The gas gauge is not functioning and needs a fuel sender installation to correct. There’s a small leak at the windshield when hard top is installed that could be remedied with a gasket/seal. Parts have always been readily available for these models should any future servicing needs arise.

What really makes people fall in love with an Alfa is the driving experience. The correct 2.0-liter fuel-injected motor looks tidy in the engine bay. More importantly, it fires up eagerly with the kind of hum that only a vintage Italian can deliver. The twin cam powerplant is legendary for eagerly pulling from a standstill. You take full control through the five-speed manual transmission. And at this time, you begin to feel the legendary harmony as the motor, gearbox, sports suspension, and you are all part of this dynamic instrument that can see the holes in traffic and finds the open road. Add in four-wheel power disc brakes, and grippy Pirelli tires, and this one is turn-key ready for excitement.
