This is an immaculate, perfectly maintained, classic Mercedes that is in excellent running condition. Extensive work (all original receipts available) includes: rebuilt engine and timing chain ($6K); rebuilt AC with new evaporator and heater core ($9K); rebuilt transmission ($3K); new front suspension ($3K); new brake and parking brake components ($3K); all radiator hoses OEM-replaced ($3K); new cruise control unit and wiper assembly ($2K); new fuel system (the two fuel pumps, filter, relay, accumulator, fuel lines) ($5K); recent annual tune-up (at Henneken Auto) including new battery, rotor, caps, and the usual power steering and coolant flush, and oil change.
As you can tell from the pictures, very little cosmetic works needs to be done. Minor bumper scuffs, but no dents or rust. The clear-coat is amazing, providing a shine better than most new cars. Inside, the black leather seats look new and the wood trim has no cracks. The car is eligible for collector plates in British Columbia as long as an era-appropriate radio is installed to replace the current upgraded one (Kenwood KDC-X704, bluetooth). Also, the car has a 250K "High Mileage Award" grill badge from Mercedes Benz.
As fans of these cars know, timing chain and AC issues occur around the 200,000 km mark. So while the car has a lot of miles on it, the big issues that come with high kms. have been dealt with. BTW why selling? Leaving the country. Otherwise, I would not be selling.
Issues? Muffler has a hole near the tailpipe. Repair estimated at C$600 (US$450).
Fans know that it takes money to maintain these cars. Sure, there are less expensive 420s around.But as the saying goes, "there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes".
