Vehicle Description
Chassis No. WP0ZZZ96ZRS455187
Unfettered. Unencumbered. Unrestrained. This 1994 911 Speedster is
as intended, a compelling Rest-of-World Porsche devoid of Federally
mandated US-spec equipment.
Based in the Porsche 964 that debuted in 1993, the third-generation
Speedster features a distinct convertible body style that echoed
the famed 1954 -?'59 Porsche 356 model. The 964 introduced a larger
3.6-liter, air-cooled M64 SOHC flat-six engine delivering an
impressive 247 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A G50
five-speed transaxle transmission propels the rear wheels of most
964 Speedsters, aided by a revised onboard computer, 17-inch
staggered alloy wheels, and optional limited-slip differential.
Sizable four-piston calipers and cross-ventilated rotors at each
corner back a multilink independent suspension featuring MacPherson
struts up front and semi-trailing arms at back. The 964 platform
provided the third generation Speedster with superior performance
and driving dynamics along with improved aesthetics over the
previous version, while filling the gap between the comfortable
Carrera S2 cabriolet and track-focused Carrera RS. Although Porsche
originally planned to build 3,000 examples of the 964 Speedster, by
the end of production in 1994, only 936 had been created.
This French-market Speedster is one of just 467 Rest-of-World
examples created. The Porsche Register in 2018 reports S455187 as
"superb and as new" with French permanent number plate DX 155 QY.
Discerningly optioned with the desirable "narrow-body"
specification, five-speed manual transaxle, and limited-slip
differential, and finished in Black Metallic (L744/Z8) with Black
leather interior, it was sold in France from the Eric Coicaud
Collection in July 2019, and first registered in the United States
in March 2023 with a Florida title. Showing under 23,000 kilometers
(approximately 14,290 miles), this is a rare opportunity to
experience the Porsche 964 Speedster - unfettered and in wonderful
condition throughout.
