Vehicle Description
Chassis No. WP0AF2A9XGS195132
It is easy to see why the 911 R was the envy of Porsche customers
and fans everywhere upon its announcement at the 2016 Geneva Motor
Show, selling out before a single car was built. Powerful,
engaging, and classic, the 911 R combined the otherworldly 493
horsepower 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six of the GT3 RS
with the wingless body of the GT3, and crucially, a six-speed
manual transmission in lieu of the GT3 RS's PDK. From the RS, the
911 R inherited its magnesium roof, carbon fiber front and rear
lids, and carbon fiber fenders, making it the lightest 911 variant
available by 113 pounds. Its stripped back simplicity combined with
retro styling cues like its Pepita houndstooth-trimmed one-piece
carbon-fiber seats and Red or Green exterior stripes linking it
back to the 1967 911 R made it one of the most desirable 911
variants of the past decade. It was so desirable, in fact, that it
ultimately normalized the idea of allocations and waitlists for
those interested in purchasing the most desirable Porsche models
and was the first jewel in the crown for 918 Spyder Circle
members.
According to the clean CARFAX Vehicle history report, this Porsche
911 R, limitation number 84 of 991 worldwide, was originally
offered for sale via Manhattan Motorcars Inc. in New York, New
York, showing 5 miles at the time. Evoking the specification of
many Italian-ordered 1973 911 RSs, limitation number 84 was one of
just 66 911 Rs finished in the "accelerated individual color" of
Jet Black, complemented by Red exterior stripes and matching Red 20
inch forged aluminum wheels. Technical and exterior options listed
on its specifications sheet include desirable features such as LED
Headlights in Black including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus
(PDLS Plus), 23.9 gallon Extended Range Fuel Tank, Fuel Cap with
Aluminum Look Finish, and the all-important Single-Mass Flywheel
with Reinforced Clutch (a $3650 extra). Well optioned on the
interior as well, this example features the optional Leather
Interior package of Black with Stitching in Red and front
lightweight carbon bucket seats with houndstooth inserts.
Additional interior options notably include the Sport Chrono
Package, a Fire Extinguisher, Smoking Package, Seat Belts in Black,
and the Deviated Stitching Interior Package.
While the options list, as extensive and well selected as it is,
creates the personalized spec of limitation number 84, there is no
denying that the 911 R, even in its most basic form, is one of the
best Porsche 911s of all time. The CARFAX Vehicle History Report
shows subsequent registration history in New York and California
following its delivery, as well as multiple service visits to
Porsche Monterey and Bugatti Newport Beach. Rare is the opportunity
to acquire an ultra-exclusive supercar like the 911 R, and this
example, showing 8,529 miles at the time of cataloging, is
undoubtedly one of the most uniquely specified examples
available.
