Vehicle Description
This custom 1947 Chevrolet 3100 Good Humor ice cream truck is
powered by a Weiand supercharged Chevrolet big-block 516ci V8
engine and is paired to a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission
with overdrive. It is equipped with a 9-inch Ford rear end,
35-spline Strange axles, Detroit Locker posi-traction, MSD
distributor, MSD 6AL ignition control, 4.11 gears, custom-made rear
springs and 4-wheel disc brakes. The frame is an original ice cream
truck frame from the firewall back. It contains the original icebox
that was structurally rebuilt and reskinned in aluminum, with the
framing in its original oak. The hood is customized for the blower
and the doors are modified as roadster doors. The rear fenders were
widened 2 inches for tire clearance. The roof is similar to the
original top and the material was canvas from a Porsche
convertible. There is a vinyl boot that is stored under the seat
and the mounts are standard snaps. The exhaust pipes are 4 inches
from header to bumper with 4-inch Flowmaster mufflers and 4-inch
resonators. The blue/white interior features matching custom gauges
from Classic Instruments, while the wiring harness is from Ron
Francis wiring.
