In the sophomore year of the Corvette's C6 run, Chevrolet unveiled
a new Z06 version. A lightweight, more focused, more powerful
'Vette, the Z06 featured an aluminum chassis and replaced the
removable roof panel with a fixed roof for increased body rigidity.
Stiffer suspension, larger sway bars, larger brakes, wider wheels
and brakes, and special wide bodywork rounded out the package. The
real conversation piece of the 2006 Corvette Z06 was the 7.0-liter
(427 cid) V8 engine. With 505 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of
torque, it was the most powerful Corvette to date. With a 0-60 time
of under 4 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph, it was also the
fastest. One of the great features of the Z06 was the dual-mode
exhaust system. In high-performance situations, the exhaust opens
up for better airflow.
Carfax history report shows no accidents or mileage discrepancies
in this Corvette's past.
