Rare 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren Convertible Limited Edition
brought to you by Zoom Classic Cars. Production #1146 and 1 of 5 in
Aztec Blue with Blue Covertible top and 1 of 5 with Standard
transmission! In 1988 the car was described as "A Bolt from the
Blue" with refined European styling transposed into a classic
American Sports Car. This two-seater convertible features new paint
from about 7 years ago that still looks fresh, The car started at
Ford as a fully loaded Mustang LX notchback with a 5.0 Liter High
Output (HO), 225 HP motor. Ford shipped cars to American Sunroof
Company (ASC) where the top was torched off from windshield header
to the rear deck. The windshield was raked back a few degrees and
the glass recurved to fit the new configuration. Then McLaren added
underneath bracing from the A to B pillars and from the B to B
pillars. This bracing boxes the entire floor pan. Struts were
installed from the rear wheel housings into the trunk. This
eliminates the possibilities of body flex under most road
conditions. According to ASC, it was the strongest convertible they
had ever assembled at that time. The Engine has cold air intake and
long tube headers. 5 speed manual transmission with new clutch and
high output throttle bearings. Power Disc brakes in front and drums
in rear, Custom console and interior trim, Custom aftermarket
Spoiler with brake light and custom aftermarket headlights. Special
Edition Leather sport seats and added aftermarket Matte black
painted hood scoop. All the proper ASC McLaren badging, dual
exhaust and clean undercarriage. Factory 4 stood custom ASC McLaren
wheels. AM/FM/Cassette and CD. Hideaway manual convertible top that
functions properly and is in great condition. This McLaren Mustang
is in great running condition and overall solid car. Interior is a
little tired and could use some refreshing and a few car door light
lenses to complete. Asking a reasonable $15,900 OBO for this low
