For Sale: 1969 Mercury Cougar in Mountain Brook , Alabama

Vehicle Description

Details

This one-owner 1969 Mercury Cougar is powered by a 351ci V8 that sends power to the rear wheels through an FMX automatic transmission. The car is still painted the correct factory maroon color with the correct maroon vinyl interior. This example features air conditioning, manual brakes, and a new white vinyl top, and has been modified with an Edelbrock carburetor. The owner says that the odometer has turned over, making the correct mileage 110,734 miles, although 10,734 miles are shown. This survivor is located in Mountain Brook, Alabama.

This cars condition has been documented by a third-party inspection and photographer. The cars overall condition reflects the years that have passed and the miles it has been driven without restoration. The body has wear that corresponds to the age. The interior shows wear but is in overall good condition, and the car drives and runs well despite its age. The pictures and inspection identify the needs of the car, but the inspection does report the vehicle to drive appropriately. A more detailed description of the shortcomings are listed below. This car is a good driver quality level in need of a little recommissioning or a candidate for restoration. The owner has kept detailed records since the car was purchased new and has also kept the owners manual and some miscellaneous parts.

About the model

Mercury introduced the Cougar for the 1967 model year. The first generation Cougar was a line of muscle cars based on the Ford Mustang. Initially, the Cougar was introduced as a two-door hardtop, but in 1969, a convertible version was added. The first generation Cougar was offered in standard and XR-7 trim levels and featured the Cougar Eliminator as its most notable variant. A wide range of V8 engines were fitted to the Cougar, with the most notable being the 428 Cobra Jet. Production of the first-generation Cougar ended in 1970, and the Second Generation Mercury Cougar replaced the model.
