Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1 owner 1970 Buick
Riviera great condition. The car looks beautiful, runs great, and
drives awesome. This survivor Riviera is a time capsule and a
wonderful cruiser. Featuring the largest engine ever made by Buick
with a staggering 370hp/500tq, 1970 Rivieras are truly underrated.
This is an excellent opportunity to own an exceptionally original
Riviera that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable
value.
This riviera has an excellent history and has been single family
owned since new. We purchased the car from the son of the original
owner. Pictured in this ad is the original invoice showing his
father bought it new from Hagen Buick on February 9th, 1970. He was
a careful and thoughtful owner that always took good care of the
car over the years and it was always stored in a heated garage. In
addition to the original sales invoice, the car comes with the
original owner's manual, Protect-O-Plate, 1970 Buick Consumer
Information Booklet, and the FM Stereo booklet.
This Buick is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color
combination of Emerald Mist Metallic (46) over Green (680)
interior. This is the factory original color scheme as verified by
the codes on the trim tag, which is pictured in this ad. Please
peruse all of the photos, video, and information in this ad to get
a true sense of clean and original this Buick really is.
We have driven this car about 15 miles recently. During that time
the car was completely reliable, has absolutely no issues, and was
a true pleasure to drive.
As a side note, this Buick is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand
pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Riviera, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Emerald Mist (46) exterior is in original survivor condition.
As one can see in the photos, the finish has good sheen, and smooth
finish. The chrome and other bright work is in great condition for
its age, but does have some pitting. The vinyl top looks very nice.
The original wheels are in great condition with a brilliant finish
and no curb rash. The whitewall tires are sized 235/75R15 and are
literally brand new with less than 10 miles on them. We believe
this paint to be mostly original and as one would expect from a
paint job this many years on it there are some imperfections
visible in the photos and some tiny blemishes around the car that
were too faint to show up in pictures. The car basically looks in
person as it does in the photos, but we would encourage any
perspective buyer to view the car in person if possible to get the
best sense of what it really looks like. As one can see in the many
photos of the underside of the car it appears to be solid
underneath. We have included specific photos of the lower quarter
panels, rockers, frame, spring perches, and other areas most prone
to rust on this generation Buick to show how this car looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Riviera is date coded and
original as each piece predates the car's body build date of 10B,
which is the second week of October, 1969. Original glass is a good
indication that this car has had no major accident history and
never sustained significant damage.
Interior
The Green (680) interior of the Riviera is in outstanding
condition. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are
clear. The chrome and bright work on the inside of the car looks
wonderful. The seats are in excellent shape with no excessive wear
or holes. There are two tiny spots in the driver's seat back that
can be seen in the photos. The carpet is also in great condition
for being original with no rips or holes. The original radio works;
it gets great reception on AM, but has trouble getting reception on
FM. Most importantly, the dash has never been cut or modified for
an aftermarket installation. The dash is in great shape with no
cracks, fading, or sun damage. The door panels are in good shape
overall. The driver's door panel is not cracked in the typical spot
where the driver's elbow sits. The headliner is not sagging. The
package tray is in great shape with no sun fading or warping.
Please note that both seat belts work and retract properly. This is
a common problem on this era GM car and an issue many buyers do not
think to check. This car has never been smoked in; there are no
burn marks and no aroma of cigarettes at all. This is one of the
best original interiors we have ever seen in person in a classic
Buick and is a true study of how these cars looked from the
factory
GM interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the
excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament
to the meticulous care and attention this car has received
throughout its life. The interior looks just as good in person as
it does in the photos.
The trunk also looks fantastic; the carpet and very fragile
original cardboard are in amazing condition. It is complete with
the trunk mat, jack, jack base, bumper hook, and lug wrench/jack
handle. The only exception being the spare tire itself.
Mechanical
This Buick Riviera seems to be in good mechanical condition and it
is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above we have driven the car 15
miles with no problems at all. The 455 ci engine starts right away
every time, runs well, and idles smoothly. The car is an
exceptional driver that feels great on the road and floats down the
highway. In the video in this ad one can observe the car
accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all
the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves.
Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the
car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do
not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well
throughout the power band. There is no blue smoke when starting or
driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. Also, the
engine compartment is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one
can see in the photos.
The horn works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights,
horn, indicators, wipers, and power windows. Even very detailed
items like the glove box light still work. The blower for the
heater and a/c works on all speeds. One can observe the a/c
compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the video. All of
the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The power
seat does not move, the switch/motor seems to still have power
though. This Riviera floats down the road and not enough can be
said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive it.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1970 Buick Riviera is in amazing survivor condition.
This car is particularly rare and extra desirable with the great
ownership history, original condition, and the beautiful and
stunning color combination. Original and unmolested examples of
classic Buicks are hard to find and draw a huge premium in the
current market.
This Buick always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It
is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by
its previous owner...for more information please contact the
