For Sale: 1929 Dodge DA Six in Newberg, Oregon

Vehicle Description

ORIGINAL "TIME CAPSULE" 1929 DODGE DA 6 SEDAN.

This Dodge "DA" Six Sedan was sold new by Lewiston Motor Company in Lewiston, Idaho in 1929. While the original owner is unknown, the car remained in the Lewiston area. In the 1950's was re-acquired (possibly through a trade-in) by Lewiston Motor Company where it was displayed in their showroom for nearly 50 years. It was then acquired by a Dodge dealer near Portland, Oregon who displayed it in their showroom until being acquired by the current owner.

While it may have received a repaint in the 1950's or 60's, and the addition of an electric fuel pump, the car is otherwise completely original throughout. Mileage showing of 15,099 is believed by the current owner to be correct, although we cannot verify it.

The body is straight with excellent panel fit. The all-steel body was built by Budd Manufacturing, known for building rail cars during the era. It is solid with no rust, testament to its dry storage for nearly a century. The paint shows well, with some scuffs and a few small chips, which are in keeping with the age of the car. The chrome and nickel plating are original and in very good condition. Wood artillery wheels are tight and wrapped by older Firestone 4.75 x 19 bias ply tires.

The interior upholstery is completely original with blue/green mohair seats and door panels. While the 94 year-old front seat fabric shows some wear, the upholstery is soft, with no rips or tears. Rear seat upholstery is excellent, showing little use. Original headliner is clean and damage-free. The door and window handles are nickel-plated and lovely, as is the wood-grained metal dashboard garnish molding. Undercarriage is original, clean and solid.

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH WERE TAKEN FOR THIS LISTING AND SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.

The 208 cubic inch flathead 6 cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly with no smoke or issues. Rated at 63 horsepower (at a time when a Ford Model A created 40 horsepower.) Steering is tight. 3-speed manual transmission shifts well. 4-wheel hydraulic brakes (pioneered on MOPAR cars since 1924) work well. Mechanical hand brake works well. All gauges work and register accurately. All lights work. We would suggest a full service before using the car extensively.

PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING.

If you are looking for a wonderful largely-original car with a great history for showing in Preservation Class events, or participating in Dodge club events, this is a great one. The originality and character that this Dodge exudes cannot be duplicated by any restored car.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
