This rare 2006 Mini Cooper JCW GP is #1278 of 2,000 John Cooper Works GP vehicles produced in 2006. Only 415 were allocated to the US and featured a factory tuning kit with performance and weight-saving modifications. Power is sourced from a 1.6L supercharged 4-cylinder engine and directed to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Like all GP’s this example stands out among other Mini Coopers with Thunder Blue Metallic paint, red mirror caps, black rear spoiler, and GP aero kit and decals. Underneath that distinctive exterior, the tuning kit is backed by JCW independent front and rear suspension, lightweight alloy wheels and a rear seat delete, making this a two-seat performance hatchback. About the model
The first generation of the Mini John Cooper Works GP was introduced for the 2006 model year. A high-performance, special edition variant of the First Generation Mini Cooper, the John Cooper Works GP features aggressive bodywork as well as improvements to the engine, suspension, and brakes. Alongside the uprated 215hp 1.6L supercharged engine, a wide range of weight-saving measures were used, including removal of the rear seats, to aid in giving the Works GP greater performance. Only 2000 examples of the Mini John Cooper Works GP were built for worldwide sale in 2006.
