This first-year 1970 Ford Maverick benefits from having features
only found on early models that include a form-hugging rear bumper
and slender chrome front bumper. Finished attractively in Pepper
Gray with black stripes, blacked out grill and tail panel as well
as tinted windows, this seldom-seen early Maverick looks cool from
any angle. A set of black-spoked 17-inch American Racing wheels
wrapped with Sumitomo HTR ll performance tires staggered 245/45ZR17
front and 275/40ZR17 rear complete the aggressive look.
The clean, all new custom black interior features bucket seats, a
custom Grant GT steering wheel, column-mounted Auto Gage tachometer
and a Clarion stereo with Bluetooth. A custom console with cup
holders and Auto Gage gauges with temperature, oil pressure and
volt meter surrounds a Hurst shifter.
Under the hood is a 302 V8 matted to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The engine features an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Proform
4-barrel carburetor, aluminum radiator with electric fan, chrome
strut braces, chrome Ford Racing valve covers and long-tube headers
feeding back to dual exhaust. A set of front disc brake make sure
there is plenty of stopping power, while traction bars keep the
rear end steady during acceleration.
A lot of work went into the restoration and upgrading of this cool
1970 Ford Maverick, and it shows. On file there are numerous build
photos available that document the restoration process. Call
