Vehicle Description
1968 Ford Mustang Convertible
The Mustang was first introduced by Ford in 1964 and remains in
production today making it Ford's longest produced car. The 1st
generation spanned from March of 1964 to 1973 and created a
completely new class of automobiles known as the "pony car"
segment. Throughout this 1st gen the cars saw multiple revisions as
they grew in overall dimensions as well as gaining more engine
power. When the Mustang was first being dreamed up the design team
was given 5 goals to work off of. They were told it needed to have
bucket seats, needed to seat four people, have a floor mounted
shifter, weigh no more than 2,500 pounds and be no longer than 180
inches. They also wanted to offer multiple power, comfort, and
luxury options. From there the Mustang was born and is without a
doubt one of the most popular muscle cars ever created. This 1968
Convertible is a very nice car that has under gone a ground up
restoration. The car was originally built in the Metuchen Assembly
Plant with a build date of 07-24-1968. From there it was delivered
to Oneill Ford in Greenvale, New York. It was purchased by its
first owner just a short time later on 08-07-1968. It remained in
New York until the 1st owner moved to Dallas, Texas in 1971. From
there it sold to the second owner, also in Texas, in 1987 and that
is where it has been ever since. Being a 2 owner car it is very
cool that it is accompanied with a complete history. The car was
originally Sea Foam Green but has been repainted with a
Basecoat/Clearcoat Highland Green. This is paired with a Black
power top that is in good shape. All of the original style
chrome/stainless is in place and has a nice shine. The electrical
is all working properly and it has its factory style grill mounted
fog lights to each side of the Mustang in Corral emblem. It rides
on a set of 15 inch American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels with
Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires.
Power is provided via the rebuilt 302 ci V8 motor under the hood.
During the rebuild it received many upgrades including 351 heads,
hypereutetic flat top pistons, Crane cam, Comp Cam Magnum rocker
arms, an Edelbrock performer intake, Edelbrock 1406 carburetor, MSD
distributor, MSD ignition, chrome air cleaner, and Mickey Thompson
valve covers. The motor runs great and has plenty of power. Under
the hood you will note the factory style export shock tower brace
and Monte Carlo bar mounted in place. The car sounds great through
the custom 3.5 inch exhaust into aluminized DynoMax mufflers.
Backing up the motor is a smooth shifting automatic transmission
and stock rear end. The suspension has been gone through and
upgraded to KYB shocks with a 7/8 front and 3/4 rear sway bar. The
car has power steering and power brakes which make it a great
driver and Wilwood discs are found up front. Underneath the floors
are all solid and rust free.
The interior is the stock Deluxe Black upholstery and the car was
ordered with its factory center console. This console provides
additional storage and houses the T-handle shifter. Where it meets
the dash you will find the Custom Autosound radio that sounds
great. The Select Air Conditioner blows cold through adjustable
center and side vents. In front of the driver is the factory gauge
cluster but an aftermarket Grant GT steering wheel has been added
along with an added tachometer. The trunk is all finished out and
offers plenty of storage space. The car comes with a Black parade
boot for when the top is down, receipts, an original owners manual,
and an original warranty facts booklet.
This cool classic Muscle Car is ready to find its 3rd owner. It has
a lot of nice upgrades and is ready to go.
