This modified 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am receives power from a 555ci big-block V8 mated to a T400 three-speed automatic transmission equipped with a manual valve body. Finished in a three-stage candy apple red over a black fabric interior with racing bucket seats and safety harnesses, this second-generation Trans Am is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and a clear New York title.The exterior was overhauled and recoated in three-stage candy apple red under prior ownership. The height-adjustable hood has a silver Firebird along with retention pins and a cutout for the shaker hood scoop. Features include pinstriping, a color-keyed chin spoiler, fender flares, sport mirror caps, a full-width taillight panel, and a three-piece rear spoiler.Glossy black 17-inch Foose wheels are wrapped in 235/55 tires.The cockpit is fitted with black cloth racing bucket seats up front, a pair of black fabric seats in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, and carpeting. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 23,201 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.The engine started as a 502ci block and was bored and stroked into a 555ci big-block V8. Added performance equipment includes a forged rotating assembly, a solid roller camshaft, Brodix aluminum heads, a Holley 950-cfm carburetor, an electric fuel pump, an MSD ignition system with a timing controller, dual electric fans, and March Performance pulleys. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed T400 automatic transmission with a manual valve body, a 3,700-rpm stall converter, and a 3.08:1 rear end with hardened axles.The front hubs and disc brakes were sourced from a fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette. Steering is power-assisted. Stopping is performed by power brakes.
