Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is proud to offer this This 1964
Ford Galaxie (chassis 4P66R126086) is described as an original
R-code car with a correct center-oiler 427 with a low-rise intake
and dual-650cfm Holley carbs, driving a posi-equipped 4.11 rear
through a 4-speed top loader. A claimed "total frame-off
restoration" saw the car repainted in correct Rangoon Red with just
one small blemish noted in the ad. Chrome and stainless appear
excellent, and the interior looks great in new red vinyl. Manual
four-wheel discs and electric power steering are nice upgrades, but
the engine is clearly the star of the show. The seller says
performance isn't disappointing, and even accounting for modern
concessions to safety and drivability, that sounds like an
understatement. Restyled for 1964, the Galaxie had fresh body lines
with a proven powertrain punch for those who knew how to work the
options sheet. Presented here in near-ideal spec, the car presents
very well including sheet metal, trim, brightwork, glass and so on.
Check out the discreet 427ci emblems buried way down on the front
fenders. Wearing the same roof line as the special 1963 1/2
Galaxie, the 1964 model boasted otherwise all-new body lines and
huge rocket exhaust-inspired taillights. The interior looks fresh
with new upholstery throughout. The factory shifter rows gears in
the top loader 4-speed and Rally-Pac gauges (as more commonly seen
on Mustangs) are a very nice addition. Interestingly, that big
wheel is now backed with electric power steering (R-codes weren't
offered with factory assistance). Additional auxiliary gauges are a
smart addition. The 427 was Decked, align honed, and the rotating
assembly balanced, its rated at 425 HP and 480 lb. ft. from the
factory. A solid lifter Comp Cams bump stick boasts a 224 duration
at .050 and .540 lift (less duration but more lift than stock).
Stainless steel 1.75 rocker arms are a nice upgrade, and Jet
Hot-coated factory long-tube exhaust manifolds with cut-outs dump
into a 2.5 exhaust with Flowmaster mufflersThe underside looks very
clean, and all the ball joints, bushings, and bearings are said to
be new. Four-wheel non-power discs are another smart upgrade and
can be removed to put back to "stock" with NO modification, and the
9 rear is loaded with posi and 4.11:1 gear.DO NOT miss your
opportunity to own one of Ford's rare factory sleepers that set the
automotive world on its ear and left us begging for more!
