1949 Studebaker Antique. I have been working on this old Studebaker
truck project for the last few years through a builder. The main
picture in this ad is the concept drawing for the build. My focus
has been to enhance, and hopefully improve upon, the original
designers efforts, along with updating the suspension and
drivetrain to modern standards. The engine is a 2017 Ford Coyote,
double overhead cam, 5.0 liter V-8. The automatic transmission is
the matching 6 speed 6R80 from a donor truck with 8,500 original
miles. The new front suspension is an air-bagged IFS unit from
Fatman Fabrications. The rear suspension is a triangulated 4-bar
with a newly rebuilt 1996 Ford Explorer 8.8 inch, 31 spline, 3.73:1
differential. The bed has been highly customized by grafting in the
rear section from a 1954 Buick sedan. This truck also has a has a
very handsome dash from a '55-'57 Chevrolet truck, shortened and
installed. This truck will be an award winner when completed.
