For Sale: 1932 Ford Phaeton in Newberg, Oregon

Vehicle Description

RARE 1932 FORD MODEL 18 V-8 DELUXE PHAETON. DEARBORN AWARD WINNER.

When Ford introduced their first V8-powered automobile in April of 1932 it created a sensation. Offered in 14 body styles, sales reached a total of 258,927 cars that year. Of that total, just 923 were Deluxe Phaetons, as seen here. This one (#1821908) is an early model, with the 20-louver hood, built in May of 1932.

While the early history of this car is now unknown, it was acquired about 25 years ago by a collector in Portland, Oregon, who set out on a multi-year restoration to an extremely high level.
Body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in correct Light Brewster Green with Dark Brewster Green moldings, and silver pinstripe. Black fenders and Apple Green wire wheels. A sporty combination that presents beautifully today with a deep, show-quality shine. Excellent panel fit. Doors close easily and securely.

All chrome and trim was re-plated. Upholstery is correct Copra brown leather. Correct rubber floor mat up front and carpet in the rear compartment. Tan convertible top covers refinished wood top bows and re-plated irons. Glass rear window. A compartment behind the rear seat-back holds a full set of side curtains and top boot. The dashboard is finished in mahogany woodgrain with a high gloss. The machined instrument panel holds the speedometer, oil pressure gauge and combined gas gauge and temperature gauge which register accurately (although the dye in the thermometer-style gas and temperature gauges have faded some, which is typical.)  Auxiliary electric fuel pump. 6 volt electrical system. New wiring harness at time of restoration. Rear mounted spare wheel/tire with metal cover. Correct folding trunk rack. Undercarriage is clean, restored and rust-free.

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH WERE TAKEN FOR THIS LISTING AND SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.

Mechanically excellent. The rebuilt original 65 horsepower V8 engine starts easily, runs smoothly and quietly. Rated at 65 horsepower (actually closer to 70 HP) with a claimed top speed near 80  mph. Excellent power and acceleration. 3-speed manual transmission shifts crisply. Mechanical brakes stop smooth and straight. I have personally driven this car and it is a real pleasure to drive.

PLEASE WATCH 10 MINUTE VIDEO TOUR SHOWING THE CAR STARTING, RUNNING AND DRIVING.

After completion of the restoration, this car was shown at a national Early Ford V8 Club meet where it received a Dearborn Award (scoring over 950 out of 1000 points in judging.) Since that time the car has been used sparingly, always maintained and kept in a climate-controlled showroom. Today the odometer shows just 181 miles since restoration.

If you are looking for a beautifully restored, first year Ford V8 in a desirable, low-production body style, this is a beautiful one. Realistically priced in keeping with its quality and rarity. Could not be restored to this level today for the asking price.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
