For Sale: 1941 Cadillac Sixty Special in Solon, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Introduced by Bill Mitchell, head Cadillac and LaSalle designer, the Sixty Special quickly became one of the most influential styles to come out of Detroit. Most notably, the new design sat three inches lower than past models, eliminating the use of running boards. Originally designated to be a LaSalle sport sedan, it was deemed too expensive and instead received the Cadillac badge. A complete success, this new model replaced the Series 70 as the most expensive owner-driven Cadillac of its day. Still, the Sixty Special outsold every Cadillac line with a newly designed Fleetwood body, higher quality trim and a wood grain dash. The fender skirts and full hubcaps on each wheel added the final touch. This stunning 1941 Cadillac Series Sixty Special Sedan benefitted from a body-on restoration, including paint and interior, in 2013. The new paint is a dark green metallic, similar to its original color. When examined for restoration, there were no filler in the body and certainly no rust on the chassis. The beautiful dark green, glove-soft leather interior and matching carpeting are - of course - impeccable. At the same time, the engine was rebuilt and a 700 R4 automatic transmission was added. To enhance trouble-free and comfortable touring, after-market air conditioning, front disc brakes, and four new Diamondback whitewall radial tires were also installed. The 6-volt electrical system was upgraded to 12-volt with a new alternator. The radio was converted to AM/FM, but the original face was kept with new electrics. An electric fuel pump and a battery cutoff switch have been added, in addition to an electronic ignition. All four original door panels were left intact as they were (and still are) in very nice condition. All the instruments and glass are clear, the glass has no chips, and all the lights and gauges work. The radiator has a new core and an auxiliary temperature gauge was added under the dash. Also added was an electric cooling fan, but it's rarely used as the car runs cool. Since the restoration, this lovely classic has logged approximately 14,000 miles. It has been on several Classic Car Club caravans and is accepted as a Full Classic by the CCCA. This car runs perfectly and has never failed the owner. It's often used for local events and runs well at 70 mph on the highway. The new owner will have the perfect tour car with the benefit of more comfort than it had when original. Air Conditioning, Automatic Transmission, Am/Fm Radio, Leather Seats
