1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7: Motor Trend Car of the Year
Burgundy with tan buckets,
Numbers matching, odometer shows 77,000.
Has a 289 V8 with C4 trans, dual exhaust, drum brakes
Tilt-away steering wheel works
Front and rear bumpers, headlight grills, 15” wheels,
Had a repaint in the 2000s, but needs touch up, there are a few rust spots.
There is rust under the drivers seat floorboard that needs repair.
Interior is decent, could use a carpet.
Headlight vacuum system is not working currently, though all exterior lights and sequentials work,
What works? Headlights, taillights, brights, Oil gauge, Heat, AC, interior lights, wipers, blinkers, 5 seat belts,
What doesn’t work? Gas gauge, odometer, radio, clock,
The car has been in our family about 40 years. It was driven very little.
It’s been our dad’s car for about 40 years, but now he has Alzheimer’s and cannot drive. It has a salvage title, but we are not sure why. We think it was bought at an auction and rebuilt, but we are not sure.
This is a driver, not a restored car.
