Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is pleased to offer this
1968 Pontiac Firebird. Built out of a love for speed, this '68
Firebird is basically a "not quite" street legal drag car!
Featuring a 1970 Pontiac 400 CID V8 block (casting # 9799914), an
Edelbrock "Victor Pontiac" hi-rise intake, Edelbrock Performer RPM
heads & a fat Holley carb, this is definitely a "go fast" type
build. An MSD distributor & ignition, headers, an oversized
aluminum radiator with electric fan & a Meziere set up round out
some of the other under the hood goodies. A Turbo 400 trans w/
frame mounted cooler is putting the power into the Olds 9.3" rear
end, the Mark Williams hi-torque axles & the 4.10 gears that are
twisting some gigantic 29.0/10.0/15 Hoosiers. Inside is basic, old
school race car, with the high back race buckets, a ratchet
shifter, AutoMeter ProComp Memory tach, AutoMeter Sport Comp
gauges, electric fuel pump/water pump/fan toggles, the MSD 6AL
Ignition, the MSD Blaster 3 coil and 2 Step Module selector & an
8-point roll cage. In the trunk is the custom fabbed aluminum fuel
cell, electric fuel pump & the battery. This car is a monster & is
running Dynomax "Straight Through" bullet mufflers, so unless you
have the local law enforcement as a part of your family, this is to
be considered a full blown race car and will need to be purchased
as such.
