Vehicle Description
Historically, Cobras were built with a singular focus. They were
designed to get around a track as fast as possible without breaking
anything in the process. But, as the Greek philosopher Heraclitus
once said, "Everything changes, and nothing stands still". These
days, Cobras have evolved to not only be great track cars, but also
great investments, storied show cars and exceptionally fun
cruisers. Speaking of fun, show worthy classics that can still kick
asphalt at the track, check out this fully sorted, one-owner
Superformance Mk III. Since you can already see the car's
aggressive aesthetics, and you already know that Superformance
builds the only Shelby-licensed Cobra replica on the market, the
show and go parts of the equation are obvious. What isn't so
obvious is the 5.2 liters of modern Aluminator power, a tough
Tremec 5-speed and a long list of performance upgrades that make
the car a standout. Looking for a top-notch Cobra that's ready to
rock and roll? Look no further than this little piece of Impact
Blue glory!
SUPERPEARANCE
Striking pigment and monotone black trim is only part of this
beast's uncanny allure. The car's acute build, supplemented with a
build out by Olthoff Racing, simply nails the details! Up front, an
aggressive front spoiler, quick jack bumpers, clear parking lamps
and black-trimmed halogen headlights frame racing style striping. A
small hood anchors an integrated scoop in front of locking latches,
blacked wipers and a black-trimmed windscreen that's dressed in
tinted visors and clear wings. The sinister black treatment is
further extended to the rollbar, side pipes and side mirror. And at
the back of the car, traditional taillights, Monza-style fuel
filler and a second set of quick-jack bumpers finish off the racing
aesthetic.
COYOTE ALUMINATOR POWER
Tilt this roadster's lightweight hood and you'll find 5.2 liters of
cutting-edge Ford heat.
Ford Performance has taken the technology and hardware developed
for the latest Shelby GT350 Mustang and created the ultimate,
naturally aspirated, 5.2L cross-plane crankshaft crate engine. With
a rating of 580 horsepower at 7,800 RPM, the new Aluminator 5.2 XS
is the most powerful naturally aspirated modular crate engine ever
built by Ford Performance.
Every Aluminator is hand assembled by the same technicians that
built the Mustang Cobra Jet drag racing engines. Premium
aftermarket components are used to ensure durability, like; unique
Manley connecting rods, ARP rod bolts, Mahle forged pistons, forged
steel crankshaft sprocket, and billet oil pump gears. Unique
components developed specifically for the Cobra Jet racing program
are used including Cobra Jet short runner-high RPM intake manifold,
1517 CFM dual 65mm Cobra Jet throttle body, and high RPM pulse
ring.
Ford Performance Engineers developed a balanced combination of high
end, 580 horsepower and strong mid-range torque with the Cobra Jet
intake manifold, unique camshafts and fully CNC ported GT350
cylinder heads.
Cooling comes courtesy of a beefy aluminum radiator and auxillary
oil cooler supported by dual electric fans. Ceramic-coated headers
jettison spent gases in to 2.5-inch ceramic coated side-pipes.
Aesthetically, the big mill, looks right at home in the tidy engine
compartment. And well-planned details, like stainless guards,
braided fluid lines and polished Wilwood brake reservoirs, are both
functional and appealing.
CLEAN AND CAPABLE
Fully sorted and ready to roll, this roadster's Superformance heavy
wall Jig-welded frame and fully independent suspension are primed
for cruising or sprinting. The big engine spins its big power
through a Tremec TKX 5-speed. Turns come courtesy of power
rack-and-pinion steering. Solid stops are provided by
power-assisted Wilwood calipers, which clamp four vented discs.
Torque meets the tarmac through attractive 18" pin-drive knock-off
wheels, which twist Continental Extreme Contact Sport 2 tires.
LEATHER AND FRESH AIR
Cobra interiors have always been stylish and simple, and one look
inside this roadster reveals just how serious the car's aspirations
are when it comes to being driver-focused. Leather-wrapped buckets
stretch tight hides under sturdy racing style lap belts. In front
of those seats, a leather-wrapped dash hangs a clean combination of
Smiths and Lucas telemetry between a locking glovebox and metal
"AC" foot pedals. The driver spins a polished and leather-wrapped
steering wheel. And the passengers stow cargo in a fully finished
trunk.
A track-bred Cobra that's civil enough to parade down Main Street,
who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? Don't miss your
opportunity to own this spectacular Superformance roadster!
