For Sale: 1965 Pontiac GTO in Columbus, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Cruisin Classics is very excited to present to you today this stunning 1965 GTO! This real deal GTO hardtop comes to us with PHS documents for verification of how it was originally built. This mean machine underwent a frame-off rotisserie restoration between 2004-2006 and we have many photos of the process as well as a thick folder of receipts. Many parts were replaced during the restoration including the hood, rear 1/4's, trunk, floor pans, brake and fuel lines, wiring harness, and interior including carpet, headliner, panels, seat covers, dash insert, gauges, and steering wheel. It is currently wearing a beautiful coat of blue-grey paint, though it was born a Starlight Black and Cameo Ivory car. The car looks great from the front with its split grill with bright trim, gleaming chrome bumper, faux hood scoop, and stacked headlights set in chrome bezels. There is quite a bit of bright trim to break up this long car with window surrounds, wheel lip molding, drip rails, rocker panel covers, side mirror, and door handles. Both fenders sport GTO 6.5 liter badges and a Pontiac "shield" rests between the grills and at the center of the deck-lid in back. At the back of the car you'll find wrap-around tail lights, dual exhaust with chrome tips, a shining bumper with integrated reverse lights, a hidden gas fill behind the fold-down license plate, power antenna, and "PONTIAC" and GTO" badging. This whole package sits proudly on Rally II wheels with red PMD center-caps and Federal Super Steel 595 red-line tires - a stunning accent for this GTO. All of you Pontiac fans are going to be very excited when the hood goes up. Sitting in the clean and organized engine bay is a 467ci Stroker motor with Edelbrock Performer heads, a triple induction intake, triple Demon 2bbl carburetors, Billet aluminum valve covers with "Pontiac" logo, and chrome air cleaners. We checked the engine numbers and found it to be a 1969 400ci block, before modifications. According to the invoices from Jim Butler Performance (Leoma, TN) the engine has aluminum roller rockers, hydraulic lifters, and a Billet timing chain. Other highlights under the hood include a Rodney Red aluminum radiator, period correct Delco battery topper, chrome alternator, chrome water pump cover, MSD ignition, power steering, power brakes with dual reservoir, Doug's headers connected to newer exhaust, and a battery "easy-disconnect". The engine is mated to a Borg-Warner Super T-10 4-speed manual transmission with a 10-bolt rear end with 3:55 gears. This GTO fires up from cold on the first try, runs like a scalded dog, and shifts like butter - it is truly a pleasure to drive! When you open the driver's door you are greeted by a very clean and correct interior, illuminated by a working dome light. While the dash and carpet are done in black, the rest of the interior is dressed in parchment (as it was originally ordered). The long door panels are in excellent condition and feature armrests, handles, window cranks, a GTO badge, chrome trim, and a carpeted lower area. The vinyl bucket seats match the doors in appearance and condition with very little signs of wear. All seats, front and back, have a Pontiac shield on the upper seat back. Just ahead of the front seats is a Hurst shifter with white pattern ball and black boot. Directly between the seats is a bracket for a fire extinguisher. There are custom front kick panels with Auto sound speakers mounted in them. The crack-free black dash has a wood-grain insert behind the gauge cluster that houses a fuel gauge, battery light, speedometer, tachometer, and oil pressure and water temp gauges (both inoperable). There are supplemental oil and water gauges (SW Brand) mounted under the dash. Also located in the dash is an AM/FM/Cassette Stereo for your favorite cruisin' music. The climate controls work as they should with hot heat and a strong fan. The 2-speed wipers work as well, just in case of a pop-up shower on the way home from a car show. On the passenger side is a "grab-handle" with GTO badge beside it and a glovebox with owners manual. The driver is treated to a period correct 3-spoke wood steering wheel with a Pontiac shield emblem at it's center. The back seat looks never before sat in and the rear side panels with armrests and ashtrays look equally nice. The rear package tray is home to 2 6X9 Pioneer speakers. The Parchment vinyl headliner is tight and in good condition. Under-foot is nice black hook loop carpet with carpeted logo floor mats. Around back is an empty trunk with splatter paint and a houndstooth vinyl mat. If you're in the market for a GTO and would prefer something that will really turn heads, then this is the ride for you! It is a perfect pairing of old-school cool with power, comfort, and style. It is harder and harder these days to find a real 65 GTO, let alone one built to this high level of quality - so don't procrastinate, call now and be the next owner of this stunning piece of automotive history!
