From inception, Backdraft cars are turnkey products developed and engineered to mimic the vintage appeal of authentic aluminum Cobras while handily out-performing pretty much anything on the street. Here we have a custom ordered and well-optioned example, ready to hit the open road. The assembly of this roadster's professionally finished GT body began with a steel-lined GRP molding that was hand-tweaked and gel coated on a full-size rotisserie rack. Once that coating was complete, the newly formed fuselage was smoothed by a seasoned fiberglass professional, baked in an even coat of primer and inspected top-to-bottom to ensure first-class quality. And when quality control was cleared, sublime Race Red two-stage was trimmed with crisp Steel Gray racing stripes.

Tilt this roadster's lightweight hood and you'll find an Iconic 427ci small block that twists a heady 500 horsepower into 532 lb./ft. of tire-killing torque! Behind that mill, a proven Tremec 5-speed spins a limited-slip rear end. The engine is fed by an upgraded aluminum fuel tank and kept cool by an upgraded aluminum radiator and auxiliary oil cooler.

That drivetrain, bolted to a hot-rolled rectangular steel ladder-type chassis, sends power through the same BMW-sourced MacPherson strut front and fully independent rear suspension that's become a Backdraft hallmark. Those fully adjustable bones are led by BMW-sourced rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by four wheel discs. And there's simply nothing that looks better on a Cobra than a set of sweet Trigo Knock-Offs!

Between the doors, diagonal stitched buckets pin soft pleats under 4-point safety harnesses. An upgraded carbon fiber dash hangs Auto X gauges next to a push button starter.
