Vehicle Description
1969 Plymouth Road Runner
By the late 60's the muscle car era had fully taken shape but some
manufacturers were moving away from their roots, so in 1968
Plymouth decided to create a car focused on performance but at a
reasonable price. Their answer was the Plymouth Road Runner. These
B Body cars continued to be produced until 1980 and have become
quite collectable in the Mopar community. In their 2nd year, 1969,
they continued with the same overall look but did slightly change
the taillights, grill, side markers, and Road Runner decals.
Interestingly those decals and the name are a result from a $50,000
deal with Warner Bros to use the character from the famous cartoon.
This 1969 Road Runner is a super clean car that was restored in
October 2023. It is in excellent shape and being a fresh
restoration makes it a great opportunity for anyone in the market.
We hope you are ready to keep reading the word "new" because so
much of it is. It has brand new Go Mango Orange (Vitamin C) paint
with the dual Black racing stripes on the front. All of the
stainless trim has been replaced along with the brand new front and
rear bumpers. The glass is all in excellent condition and both the
windshield and rear glass has been replaced. Even the door handles
are new. All of the lights work throughout with zero issues. It
rides on brand new stock style wheels with new BF Goodrich Radial
T/A tires (front R235/70R15, rear R275/60R15).
Under that classic Road Runner hood is sitting the numbers matching
original 383ci High Performance 4 barrel V8 motor. The engine runs
strong and was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago. It has a very
clean appearance with everything nicely paint Orange and it is
topped off with the very cool Coyote Duster air cleaner. Since
being rebuilt it has been fitted with a new Power Master Alternator
and it fires off strong with a new red top Optima battery that was
relocated to the trunk. The transmission is the numbers matching
838 4 speed which sends power back to the numbers matching Dana
positraction rear end with 3:73 gears. The car really is a great
driver especially when you factor in the new Wilwood 4 wheel disc
brakes and new Borgenson power steering system. Even the suspension
was fully replaced with a Hotchkis Sport Suspension kit that
incorporates all new upper/lower A arms, frame connectors, sway
bars, bushings, and shocks with adjustable air shocks in the
rear.
The interior is finished out in its factory Black color and is in
great condition throughout. This was the first year for optional
bucket seats which this one has. Through the floor is the original
Hurst pistol grip shifter which moves through the gears with ease.
The dash all looks good and is stock except for the added AM/FM/CD
stereo which is new. It sounds great and also has new rear
speakers. The gauges all work and it has an under dash unit for the
temp/oil pressure gauges. The trunk is nicely finish out with the
stock style mat and in addition to the relocated battery is where
you will find the added kill switch so it stays charged up when
being stored.
This is a super clean car throughout and runs/drives/rides great.
