This restored 1963 Chevrolet C10 Stepside pickup shows 66,173 miles on the odometer but the total mileage is unknown. It’s powered by a 230ci inline-six-cylinder engine driving power to the rear wheels through a three-speed column-mounted manual transmission. The exterior has been repainted in its original beige with a contrasting black rear bumper, black “Chevrolet” on the tailgate, and black slats on a new natural-colored wood bed. The front wears a chrome bumper and a white-painted grille. The beige color carries through to the interior painted dashboard, door panels, and cab ceiling. A newer black vinyl bench seat covering and black rubber floor coverings complete the clean look of the cabin. Modern three-point seat belts and a Sony in-dash radio/CD player with under-mount speakers have been installed to provide additional safety and enjoyment for occupants.
A third-party inspection and detailed photo gallery are a testament to the preserved condition of this classic pickup. The beige paint is in good condition and shows only smaller scratches consistent with age. On the interior, there are small rust holes on the ceiling panel behind the left sun visor, but otherwise, the condition of the paint, vinyl seat, and floor coverings present in newer condition. The vehicle was road-tested and the engine, transmission, and brakes all operate as they should. Pictures show a restoration that included attention to the engine compartment and undercoating the vehicle. Some surface rust is evident on the exhaust system but no leaks were detected. About the model
The first generation Chevrolet C/K series was launched for the 1960 model year replacing the Chevrolet Task Force Trucks. This new generation introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts: a drop-center ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower, and independent front suspension. Also new for 1960 was a new designation system for trucks made by GM. Gone were the 3100, 3200, and 3600 designations for short 1/2, long 1/2, and 3/4-ton models. Instead, a new scheme assigned a 10, 20, or 30 for 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton models. A "C" (conventional) in front of the series number designates 2-wheel rear drive while a "K" designates 4-wheel drive, although for 1960 and 1961, C and K trucks were badged as Apaches. The most common in the collector car world are the C10 trucks (two-wheel drive, 1/2 ton, short bed) followed by the four-wheel drive version, the Chevrolet K10. Other common variants include the C20 and K20. As is often the case with such popular models, the C/K has commonly been the basis for Custom And Restomod conversions. The first generation C/K was built until 1966 and was replaced by the 2nd Gen Chevrolet C/K for model year 1967.
