Vehicle Description
The 1998-2002 Trans Am was the last of the breed, and in closing
the final chapter, Pontiac Motor Division chose to send the
Firebird off in a blaze of performance and in your face looks. The
02' Trans Am Collector's Edition was limited to just 2400 units,
evenly split between coupes and convertibles. About 60 percent of
all the Collector's Edition cars were 6-speed manuals such as this
unit, meaning this car is one of about 720 six speed coupes
produced. All Collector's Edition T/As were finished in bright
yellow with black wheels and black roofs, black interiors with
embroidered head rests, and fully loaded with all available
options. Under the hood is the ubiquitous GM LS1 5.7L V-8, and in
stock form it produced 320hp with the WS6 Ram Air package. However,
this T/A Collector's Edition is anything but stock! This T/A looks
like a respectable Dr. Jekyll until you turn the key and Mr. Hyde's
monster personality greets you with a thunderous exhaust note that
could startle school kids in the next county over. This bad boy
Bird is angry, hungry, and wants to go do mean things. The top end
of this LS has been completely reworked with Texas Speed and
Performance PRC-225 aluminum cathedral cylinder heads, Texas Speed
MS4 Magic Stick camshaft, a FAST composite intake with 92mm
throttle body, 42lb injectors, Walbro Fuel pump, and underdrive
pulleys. On the exhaust side there are Texas Speed 1 7/8 long tube
headers, Texas Speed off road y-pipe, and a Corsa Cat back system
from there to the tips. What this means is loud and proud
performance in any gear, at any RPM. The sound emanating from the
twin tail pipes is intoxicating and the whole car begs you for more
throttle. This bird will no doubt get you into trouble, however you
will have the time of your life while making bad decisions. Those
decisions are sent to the pavement through a six-speed manual
transmission with McLeod twin disc clutch that takes abuse and asks
for more, a Corvette Z06 slave with remote mount bleeder, and a
professionally built 10 bolt rear axle with 4.10 gears and welded
axle tubes. Making sure the car goes straight when you light the
fires and smoke the tires are a full complement of BMR chassis
upgrades including 3-point subframe connectors, torque arm, and
adjustable panhard bar. Up front the chassis tweaks continue with
BMR lower control arms with relocation brackets, poly bushings, and
BMR lowering springs with KONI Yellow adjustable shock absorbers
all the way around. This monster of a T/A is easily one of the
nicest we've seen, and it only needs to be set free into the wild
to hunt for other four wheeled prey. Contact Brian at 352-307-1968
