For Sale: 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle in Kentwood, Michigan

Vehicle Description

GR Auto Gallery of Indy is pleased to present this stunning 1971 Chevelle SS for your consideration. This beautiful '71 Chevelle SS is a outstanding car that comes to us from the second owner. Covered in Placer Gold that is complimented by a spotless Saddle interior with factory Strato-bucket seats, console, and factory gauges. This outstanding example is a true Z15 SS car that started as a bare basic L48 car that the current owner decided to change the build to what the original owner wanted. Under the hood is a period correct LS7 454 engine, backed by a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, and mated to a 12 bolt rear end. Factory upgrades include; Soft-Ray tinted glass, power windows and door locks, tilt steering, power steering, power brakes, power trunk opener, rear window defroster, sport steering wheel, AM/FM/ Stereo Radio, front and rear bumper guards, posi traction rear end with performance axle ratio, and Z15 SS Equipment. The 53 Placer Gold is 95 percent original, and still retains the factory black SS stripes. This is a beautiful example of a survivor that has been altered to reflect the true power of the early 70's Muscle Car's. Don't miss out on the one of a kind legend. Drive this one out of our showroom or have us assist with shipping it to you anywhere in the United States! Don't hesitate to give us a call with any questions or for more information.

Although the 1971 Chevelle retained the 1970 body, it was treated to new front-end and rear-end styling that included large Power-Beam single-unit headlights, a reworked grille and bumper, and integral park/signal/marker lights. The grille was widened and featured a bright horizontal bar that divided it into two sections. At the center of this bar was a large Chevy bowtie for Malibu's, or a large "SS" emblem for the SS models. The grille on the Super Sport was painted flat black, other models got a silver-finished grill. Base Chevelles got a thinner, plain bar with no ornamentation. A small "Chevelle" nameplate was located in the lower-left corner of the grille. New dual round taillights were integral with the back bumper. Because SS models suffered heavy insurance surcharges, Chevrolet introduced the "Heavy Chevy" at midyear, which was based on the base Chevelle, and was available with any V8 engine except the 454, which was exclusive to SS models. The Heavy Chevy (RPO YF3) was only available with the base Chevelle sport coupe (13437) and was primarily a dress-up option and even it was limited to options available on the standard Chevelle sport coupe; vinyl carpeting, front bench seat, no center console shift, etc.

Price does not include applicable tax, title, license, processing and/or $199 documentation fees.
