Vehicle Description
1990 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer
While on a winter fishing trip in Washington, Eddie Bauer developed
hypothermia. He then began trying to develop alternatives to heavy
wool garments used by outdoorsmen at the time. He attempted to
offset the bulkiness of down by quilting a down jacket. In 1940,
Bauer patented the first quilted goose down-insulated jacket in the
United States: and introduced it in his store as "The Skyliner".
Bauer received over 20 patents on various outdoor clothing and
sporting equipment between 1934 and 1937.
For consignment, an Eddie Bauer edition of the 1990 Bronco from the
blue oval. This outdoorsy named and optioned 4x4 is using the
apropos Alpine Green with a Tan cap and lower rocker stripe. The
truck has some noise dampening in the floor and all new weather
stripping. Routine maintenance has been documented since our
consignor took over.
Exterior
Very clean, and a good paint job in Alpine Green for the hood cab,
sides, and gate, and then some Pawnee Tan is seen accenting the
rockers surrounds and back of the cab on the cap portion on this 2
door full size bronco Eddie Bauer Edition. This top can be removed
to give you an open-air option. Shiny bumpers are in front and rear
and have wide rubber toppers on the back. The grille features
integrated wrap around head lighting and turn signals. Badging and
chrome is correct and in excellent condition. 15-inch deep and
drilled shiny wheels are wrapped by Ironman All Country all terrain
tires that protrude from under the wheel wells. A swing away vinyl
covered spare is behind the tailgate and all glass is lightly
tinted.
Interior
2 overstuffed suede like broadcloth tan buckets flank a large
center console with a glove box large enough to almost fit a small
suitcase! The driver's seat and door panel suffer from some
cigarette burns. A wide panel stitched suede like broadcloth rear
bench which will fold down expanding the already spacious cargo
area is installed behind the buckets. This rear bench seat is in
nice unused condition. The dash setup is standard Ford fare with
tan vinyl for the top which is slightly worn at the edge, and black
panels and a strip of rounded wood applique. Instruments, knobs and
pulls are slightly faded and have dust on them. The doors use some
tan suede like broadcloth and molded plastic panels and present in
good condition. Power windows, and power locks are noted by their
buttons in the doors. Cruise control is on the steering wheel. Good
quality carpeting, in golden color, is covering the floors and rear
cargo area. The headliner is fuzzy broadcloth for the front, and
tan plastic for the rear cap area.
Drivetrain
A 5.0 liter V8 with an automatic AOD 4 speed transmission attached
to the back. EFI feeds this mill, and the final drive is a front
Dana 44 4.10 and rear Ford 9 inch with 4.10 final drive. All
unrestored and nicely patina with sight corrosion on cast parts.
The engine sports a new throttle body and distributor.
Undercarriage
Clean, some surface rust, no structural damage, no holes etc.
Radius arm and coil springs for the front ride and leaf springs for
the back. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums on
back.
Drive-Ability
The test track was no match for this big Bronco. Smooth
acceleration, good handling for a truck and plenty of creature
comforts, and with the recent work runs perfectly and stops on a
dime. All functions are working swimmingly.
This big Bronco Eddie Bauer Version presents nicely with its Alpine
Green and Pawnee Tan two tone, a designer interior, and plenty of
cargo space. Grab your groover, tent and sleeping bag and head for
the wilds of the great Smokies or Rockies. This truck is a real
climber. Hand me a Piton.
