1966 Lotus Cortina
History: The Lotus Cortina was famous for winning the English and European Touring Car championships in 1964 and 1965. In the USA they were competitive in SCCA competition and the under 2-liter Trans Am championship. These great saloon cars were driven by racing greats Jim Clark, John Whitmore and Jacky Ickx. Today they are eligible for many historic racing events and rallies around the world.
This Lotus Cortina spent most of its life in the dry southwestern US or in California. The old SCCA racing logbook dating back to the early 1970’s when logbooks were first started (that is still with the car) shows it being raced in the SCCA Arizona region B Sedan group, driven by Buzz Rose. A proper Lotus Cortina with an early SCCA racing history. It sells to Bruce Terrill of Northern California, who owns the car for many years. Then selling to Bob Spriggs of San Diego, California, who owns the car for 15 years and has it serviced by Lotus twin cam expert Bill Schlossnagel. He raced it in many West Coast historic races, including HMSA and CSRG sanctioned races and the Monterey Historics. Spriggs sells the car to Victor Avila of San Clemente, California, who also has it serviced by Bill Schlossnagel, alongside his Lotus 26R. Avila sells the car to California resident Art Miller. After several years, Miller sells the car to California resident Greg Edenholm. A wonderful example with an early SCCA race history and a known documented ownership. Looked after by experts.
Condition: A dry original body shell nicely restored to original specifications. Having been raced in historic races for many years, it has a roll cage, fuel cell and seat belts. Close ratio gear box, limited slip differential and Panasport wheels. Yet still with a complete interior, dash, headliner, seats, door panels, etc. Prior to selling to Edenholm in 2019. it had a freshly rebuilt race twin cam engine by Schlossnagel, producing 170HP. This was taken out, and a mild 125 HP street engine was installed.
It has a current California title and is street legal. It comes with the original street fuel tank and steel wheels. One can drive it on the street, or buy the race engine and go racing again.

Of Note: Old SCCA log book, years of race preparation and service receipts, engine dyno sheet. Has documented ownership. It is street legal, or it can be raced once again.
