For Sale: 1950 Pontiac Catalina in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is the top of the line Super Deluxe Catalina. It was a limited edition available only in San Pedro Ivory, Sierra rust or a combination of the two. This car is a sweetheart! I could not walk away from it. I've been around enough cars to recognize this is an unabused quality example. It drives and functions as good as it looks. Upgraded to 12 volt which makes it start easier and the lights brighter.

EXTERIOR: First year of the pillarless hardtop design. It is a very handsome car and the Super Deluxe is fully adorned with trim. I love the lit up Indian head hood ornament! The body is mint! There is no rust or damage, it is arrow straight too. Finished in its original optioned San Pedro Ivory/Sierra Rust colors and it is polished like glass. It looks like all the chrome and stainless trim was professionally restored. It has plenty of it: chrome ribs on the hood and trunk, fuel door trim, rocker moldings, stone shields, bumper guards etc. the glass is clear. It rolls smoothly down the road on Coker radial whitewalls and original hub caps.

INTERIOR: The interior is just as impressive. I first noticed the seats are firm and the correct upholstery fits like a glove. The matching door panels look just as good. The carpet is excellent. The headliner has chrome ribs to give the impression they are convertible bows. As nice as the upholstery is, that's the easy part. This one also has a dash area in excellent shape. All the painted metal, sparkling chrome trim and knobs, factory gauges, glovebox etc. looks great! The interior lights and glove box light all work. It has optional day/night mirror, radio, and clock

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is the infamously smooth Silver Streak straight 8 cyl engine. It looks clean and proper. All the components look correct: air cleaner, carburetor, horns and even the working lamp. The metal surfaces are all smooth and painted.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean. Under the lid is painted nicely, the paint in the jamb is a little rough. Inside is carpeted including the tire cover. It has a jack and spare. The battery was relocated to the trunk.

UNDERSIDE: It is clean underneath! The metal is absolutely rust free, not even pitted. The front end looks like it's been rebuilt recently. New shocks in back. It has the correct exhaust with a long muffler making it whisper quiet. Looking up at the motor it looks clean. It has the optional 4-speed Hydramatic transmission that looks clean too.

The new owner will be proud because it's a great car. It's handsome and stylish. It feels and functions like a smooth operator! It cost a lot more to restore this than a Camaro or Mustang. The chrome alone cost a small fortune.

A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
