Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is happy to be able to
offer this 1976 Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus. Volkswagen introduced
the second generation of their Type 2 bus in 1967. Also known as
the "T2", the second generation of Type 2 van featured a new and
more angular front end, as well as a single front window. This
single windscreen has given the T2 its nickname the "Bay Window."
While sporting updated styling, the T2 still carried many of the
styling cues established in the first generation. This T2 example
has a freshly redone 1766cc-113 Dualport engine built completely by
FSA Motors in Ft. Smtih, AR. in July of 2022. The documented engine
build started with a machined case for the oversized AA Performance
90.5mm pistons & included Mahle main, cam & rod bearings, 311 rods,
reworked machined heads with a 3 angle valve job, performance
plugs, a modified 34 PICT carb, a new clutch kit, generator,
starter, blower fan and various other goodies were also installed
at the same time and are documented as well. Finished in a newer
Avocado green paint with white bumpers, a light gray colored
interior upholstery on its 3 rows of seats & a super cool Empi roof
rack, this 1976 T2 Bus is definitely road trip ready!
