For Porsche to race in FIA Group 4 competition, their racecar had
to be homologated as a production model and thus the 911 Turbo was
born for 1975, known internally as the 930 Turbo. The first 400
units qualified Porsche to go racing with these cars. The original
Turbo, known as the Turbo Carrera, were initially fitted with a 3.0
Liter flat six-cylinder turbo engine producing 260bhp. For 1978,
Porsche revised the 930 with a larger 3.3 Liter turbo engine rated
at 300bhp. Porsche also revised the large rear spoiler as well
officially naming the car 911 Turbo worldwide. With U.S. emissions
restrictions tightening in 1980, 1979 became the last model year
that the 930 was specified for the American market until 1986.
This 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo coupe is a German-market example that
been in its previous ownership for approximately 20 years. It has
78,000 original miles and has only been built with the best or the
best performance enhancements.
Upgrades in the style of factory 930S include 930S front spoiler
with oil cooler as well as 930S side rocker panels and European H4
headlamps. The interior is fitted with a 930S steering wheel, VDO
Boost gauge, Late style Porsche power adjustable seats and a Sony
stereo head unit with upgraded speakers and Alpine power amplifier.
The engine has been rebuilt to 3.4 liters with the use of Carillo
rods for added bottom end engine strength, Porsche 964 camshafts,
B&B stainless steel headers w/heat exchangers, 930S sport
muffler with quad outlets, K27 turbocharger and larger 930S type
intercooler. The original 4-speed manual has been replaced and
updated with a shortened bell housing G50 5-speed gearbox. The
suspension has been treated to Larger torsion bars, Uprated sway
bars, Front struts brace and Bilstein shock absorbers front and
rear.
Most recently, this 930 has been fitted with new 16x7 and 16x9
factory Fuchs forged alloy wheels with Bridgestone tires, a Major
service with all fluids/filters/valve adjustment, new HD clutch
assembly, rebuilt K27 turbocharger, AC and heating system
service.
An icon of Porsche's history, this 930 is a superb example that
runs strong and tight. Presented in an elegant color combination,
it is ready for immediate use and enjoyment. The 930 is accompanied
with service records, owners handbook, jack, original spare and
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The performance and style of this 930 Turbo is on par with both a
Special Wishes factory 930S as well as RUF 930 BTR, but available
for a fraction of the price, but with all the enjoyment factor.
