Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars is super excited to be able to offer this 1960
Chevy Impala 2 door Hardtop! This is a solid AZ car purchased in
1998 by its previous owner and restorer, and the restoration took
place over the next 12 years as a driving "work in progress" to its
final version of what you see here today, minus all of the
mechanical upgrades for comfort, handling, and reliability that
were added added as needed. This car has won over 100 awards
including 5 Goodguys Nationals, Super Chevy 1st in Class and a Top
Ten award. A show car that was driven and is extremely reliable is
what hot rodding & collecting are all about! The restoration started
with a solid AZ car that retained all of its original Sheetmetal,
floors, trunk, and rockers. The Paint and bodywork were
professionally performed by ScottRods in Catalina, AZ. Finished in
Dupont Tasco Turquoise Base/ Clear. Fully block sanded and buffed
with very clean lines, correct door, hood, and trunk gaps, one look
tells you why this Impala is the award winner that it is! All of
the chrome and stainless were refinished, all glass is new and was
installed by Andy's American Glass. (Side and rear glass are tinted
& all weatherstripping and seals were replaced.)Powered by its
original 348 V8 completely rebuilt and upgraded with electronic
ignition and Edelbrock carburetor. That's all backed by a 700R4
transmission with overdrive. A huge 2 row aluminum radiator with
thermostat-controlled fans was installed to keep this Impala cool
even in the TX heat. Empire driveline built the balanced Slip Shaft
driveshaft that connects to the 3.08 differential. Custom
suspension sports tubular a-arms, 2 " dropped spindles, and 3
lowered springs, new Ridetech shocks and a newer 6-piston Wilwood
power disc brake system was just added on all 4 corners, with huge
13 rotors up front with 12 in the rear.Custom interior by Marvin
Strickland sporting Pearl White sculpted seats and door panels.
Extra insulation and sound deadening was added throughout. Comfort
Features include Tilt column from Ididit, cruise control,
electronic intermittent wipers, a new Vintage Air AC and Heat,
Pioneer stereo, and a quick ratio power steering box make sure you
are riding right! Caringly maintained and enjoyed by the same owner
for the last 23+ years up until last year, this car was very
special to him. Proven reliable driver, not a trailer queen like
most cars of this caliber. It cruises on the highway at 75mph with
an rpm of around 2000. It will also come with a huge stack of
receipts documenting the build and over 70 trophies and plaques
it's won over the years. This 1960 Impala is definitely no slouch!
