For Sale: 1955 Chevrolet Nomad in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

I plucked this right out of the Georgia Mountain collection with 5 other premium cars! Very nice body off restoration. They mechanics were upgraded for reliability, performance and comfort but the looks were kept stock except for the wheels.

EXTERIOR: The body is amazing on this two door station wagon Nomad. There are no signs of rust, bubbling or problem areas. It's straight everywhere I look; I am very impressed with the gaps. The hood and doors close like brand new. The rubber gaskets and weather strips were replaced. Correct nomad bumper in the back, smooth bumper in the front with no seams or bumper bolts showing. It looks like the chrome and stainless trim was replaced or restored. It has correct antenna and dual mirrors. Upgraded with Halogen headlights some some big chromies! It rolls on chrome Coy's; 18s in front and 20s in back with performance tires.

INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car and I love the fact that they kept it all original. It is restored from carpet to headliner. The seats and door panels are reproduction with the waffle pattern. The back seat folds flat. They've added seat belts front and back. It has the correct tight loop carpet on the floor along with the optional heel pad for the gas pedal. In front of me is a beautifully restored dash. The metal trim is painted really nice, the chrome trim, speedometer, bezels, knobs we're replaced. It has an updated Vintage Air controls that look like the original, but they are electric instead of cables. It also has a retro stereo with an auxiliary plug. Overhead is the deluxe Bel Air headliner with chrome ribs. The dome lights work, visors look like new and it has the day night mirror.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The motor compartment is spic and span clean. It's home to a GM crate 350 HO making a reliable 330 hp. On top is an Edelbrock intake and carb and it has a set of coated headers. Dressed up nicely with some polished parts: aluminum air cleaner and matching plug wire holders, chrome Chevy valve covers and breathers. It has a modern air conditioning system with a polished compressor. It also has a chrome alternator. It features power brakes and an upgraded electric wiper system. It runs cool with the engine fan and an auxiliary electric fan in front. The metal surfaces are painted smooth and neatly.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The two piece tailgate opens properly. The latches and hinges are rechromed. It has the correct vinyl flooring. Under the floor is a painted rim and a white wall tire for a spare and the jack assembly.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame when it was restored. Upfront was completely rebuilt and upgraded with polished tubular control arms from the hot rod shop, coilover adjustable gas shocks and drop spindles. In back it has adjustable gas shocks and lowering blocks. There is a great sounding dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. The fuel tank was replaced. It was upgraded with disc brakes in front, the e-brake is hooked up. Looking up at the motor it is spotless and has a high torque starter. The trans was upgraded with a Turbo 350 automatic. The rear is the original, according to the stamp it has 3.36 gears. The floors are solid and were painted the body color.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and readjusted the carb, calibrated the speedometer, repaired a front turn signal and replaced the door lock cylinders.

The Nomad was a top of the line model, I don't get very many of them and this is a really good one!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum.
