For Sale: 1989 Toyota Pickup in Sparks, Nevada

Vehicle Description

Details

This highly original 1989 Toyota pickup has just 59,511 miles and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.4L inline four-cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels. The trucks original paint is a steel blue with matching graphics, and it is upholstered with gray cloth and features Toyotas Deluxe trim. Standard equipment included fuel injection and HVAC. Additionally, this example has spent its life in Nevada, where it remains today. Accompanying the truck is a clean Carfax.

The third-party photos show a clean example of a well-cared-for truck. The third-party inspection confirms the trucks condition. The photos and inspection do note minor wear on the exterior that is commensurate with the mileage on the car. Minor isolated spots of surface rust can be seen on the bed. The interior is clean with only minor wear, and mechanically, the car is said to run and drive as intended by the manufacturer. It is recommended that the next owner flush the radiator coolant and replace the cap. Included in the sale is the original owners manual and one key.

This Toyota pickup is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Sparks, Nevada.

About the model

For model year 1989 Toyota introduced the fifth generation of the Toyota Pickup (or Hilux in markets outside the USA). In 1991, North American production began in Fremont, California (the VIN on these trucks starts with '4T'), however some trucks sold in the United States during the 19911995 model years were still manufactured in Japan (VIN starts with 'JT'). The Hilux received a minor facelift in 1991 (for the 1992 model year), which was a minor grille change and the new Toyota emblem that had been recently adopted. During its production years, it was available in both manual and automatic, with a range of engines for the US market including the carbureted 2.4 I4 (22R), the fuel-injected 2.4L I4 (22R-E), and the 3.0L V6 (3VZ-E). The Hilux range included a couple of diesel variants, the 2.4L Turbodiesel I4 (2L-TE) and the 2.8L I4 (3L). For the 1996 model year, Toyota discontinued the Hilux platform in the United States, replacing it with the new Tacoma. For other markets, the Hilux continued in production and it was replaced by the 6th generation for the 1998 model year.
