For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Corvette in Simi Valley, California

Vehicle Description

This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is said to have been purchased by the seller’s father in the 1960s and later acquired by the seller in 2003. Subsequent work consisted of stripping and refinishing the body and chassis and installing rack and pinion steering and a supercharged 350ci V8 mated to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Schreiner Enterprises 9-inch rear axle. The car is finished in yellow with white coves over black vinyl upholstery and features a removable hardtop, a B&M 420 Mega Blower supercharger and intake manifold, twin Weber carburetors, MSD electronic ignition, TCI rack and pinion steering, tubular front control arms, power four-wheel disc brakes, 16″ Centerline wheels, and a retro-style digital stereo. This C1 Corvette is now offered with refurbishment photos, spare parts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The fiberglass body was stripped and refinished in yellow with white coves under current ownership. Equipment includes a body-colored removable hardtop and chrome bumperettes as well as a left side mirror and dual exhaust outlets that exit behind the rear tires.

Chrome 16″ Centerline wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires. The car has been fitted with a TCI rack and pinion steering system, tubular front control arms, and rear traction bars. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners. The parking brake is not connected.

The cabin features bucket seats re-trimmed in black vinyl upholstery joined by a color-coordinated dash top, carpets, and door panels. Equipment includes Corvette-branded floor mats, a custom shifter knob, an analog clock, and a retro-style digital stereo. The car is said to have been re-wired during the refurbishment.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and center-mounted instrumentation consisting of a 6k-rpm tachometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. The speedometer, odometer, and tachometer are not connected, and the gauge lenses were reportedly replaced under current ownership. Auxiliary instrumentation is mounted in front of the shifter. The non-functioning odometer shows 68k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 350ci V8 is said to have been sourced from a 1969 Corvette and was reportedly fitted with a high-performance B&M camshaft, a roller timing chain, roller rocker arms, and cylinder head studs. Additional features include a B&M 420 Mega Blower supercharger and intake manifold, twin Weber four-barrel carburetors, MSD electronic ignition, Moroso valve covers, and tubular exhaust headers. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan has been fitted.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, a hydraulic clutch, and a Schreiner Enterprises 9-inch rear axle. The seller states that a Detroit Locker differential, 3.55:1 gears, and 32-spline axles have been installed, and the transmission and clutch were reportedly fitted in 2016.
