There's something special about a full-sized Pontiac. A mixture of
big chrome, intricate bodywork, and an imposing stance made them
boulevard kings. So when a 1964 Pontiac Catalina hardtop with a 400
V8 and tri-power is up for grabs, it's time to take notice.
This was the era when Pontiacs were out to dominate the road with
the Wide Track style that made them legendary. You especially see
it up front where the grille tapers inward just so the stacked
headlights can protrude with an even more attractively imposing
face forward. And the kick-up at the tail panel seems to draw even
more attention to imposing elements like the well-creased rear
quarters and unique tail lights that curve with the rear bodywork.
The paint holds close to the 1964's Silvermist Gray, but it's a
more modern respray. Today it knows how to radiate for the right
kind of attention without losing that easy cruiser quality. That's
the overall theme of the car, it's a sharp-looking driver. Those
upgraded 18-inch Ridler alloys even let you fit better driving
tires.
The maroon interior retains a deep color while giving you great
details, like the intricate cloth inserts in the seats, bright door
trim, and a clean dash. This Catalina loves to keep the vintage
vibe, right down to the AM radio in the dash. But they also added
some very useful cruiser upgrades under the dash, like an auxiliary
gauge trio and an AM/FM/CD stereo with a USB input to plug in your
modern smartphone. So this is a great one for rolling down all the
side glass on the pillarless hardtop, cranking up your favorite
music, and going for a drive.
Under the hood is one of the best features of them all. You have
two Pontiac legends: the mighty 400 cubic-inch V8 and a triple set
of dual-barrel Rochester carburetors for a tri-power setup. This
one may require a bit of shadetree tuning and dialing in for your
ideal cruiser setup, but often that's the fun of owning a coupe
like this. And we also like that it has the right easy driving
features like a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering,
power brakes, and modern grippy tires.
This is the cool/classic coupe that has the right style and power
setup to really own the road. Call today!!!
