Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this
1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible. The SS performance package
consisted of a 350CID, or an optional 396 CID, V/8 powerplant and
came equipped with complete chassis upgrades for better handling
and to deal with the additional power. The '68 Camaro SS featured
non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS
badging. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro convertible is finished in
Butternut Yellow with the black convertible top (Y2) over Parchment
custom vinyl buckets (730) upholstery and is powered by the
original 350 CID V8 with a 3-speed manual transmission. The
matching numbers small block 350 is dressed nicely with polished
valve covers and air cleaner, 4 Barrell Edelbrock carb, along with
long-tube headers and dual exhaust. The transmission is 1 of 752
for the 1968 year, a Borg Warner T-16 Heavy Duty (RPO M13) Manual
3-Speed transmission on the floor mounted console. Additional
interior equipment includes power steering, automatic convertible
top, manually operated windows, a center console, AM/FM radio and
seatbelts. The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting
column and fronts a 120-mph speedometer and fuel gauge. Additional
gauges mounted in the center console include analog clock, oil
pressure, battery voltage, and coolant temperature. Also included
in the sale will be the original invoice for the purchase from
Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI., the original owner's manual
as well as a recall letter from G.M. dated Feb. 1972. This is a
very nicely preserved, true SS convertible that will compliment
anyone's current collection or is ready to be a super high-end
driver to be taken out and enjoyed!
