Marking the end of a long, proud era of independent British coachbuilding, chassis number LCLEL59 was one of the last long-wheelbase Silver Cloud IIIs built with bespoke coachwork and one of the final custom bodies produced by the UK’s last extant private coachbuilding firm, James Young Ltd., of Bromley, Kent.

The example presented here is one of only two long-wheelbase Silver Cloud IIIs built in James Young’s style number SCT 100 without a division. This design, a touring limousine known as the “Baby Phantom” for its remarkable resemblance of a Phantom V scaled down to the Silver Cloud chassis, incorporates several distinctive features — a “turtleback” semi-fastback trunk lid and a sweeping fender line — resulting in a subtle and elegant appearance. This Silver Cloud III was also well-optioned, with accessories including individually adjustable front seats, factory air conditioning, wood picnic tables, and a rear compartment radio.

The magnificent 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III long-wheelbase by James Young offered here is finished in gorgeous Masons Black over Garnet with an impeccably kept Tan Connolly leather interior surrounded by magnificent Burled Walnut woodwork. Just released from a world-class collection and is now ready for its next caretaker, we are proud to offer what is certainly the most important and desirable Rolls-Royce to come to market in years! Because of this, I personally believe the investment potential of this iconic Rolls-Royce will grow beyond your imagination. This Silver Cloud III represents an incredible opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after and desirable Rolls Royce’s ever produced for the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires the very best!

For all of you who are not familiar, Rolls-Royce no longer exists as it has for the past hundred years; it is now owned by BMW, and models are being produced in higher quantities than ever before. The days of cars being handcrafted by artisans in Crewe are now just a fond memory. This particular car was built at a time when Rolls-Royce was truly building the world’s finest motorcars with the care and craftsmanship evident in every detail.
