Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is very pleased to
present this beautiful piece of "Automotive Americana", this
visually stunning 1940 Ford Coupe "Deluxe". The 1940 model year
must rank at or near the top of the list among hot rodders and
classic car restorers. The hot rodding of the 1940 Ford Coupes
really took off after World War II and you will still see several
of the 1940 Ford Coupes around at auto shows & meets, with a good
number of them modified into hot rods like this one. This example
stands out in the crowd for sure, compliments of the high gloss
black paint, custom painted silver & purplish-blue flames, custom
pinstriping on the rear deck, wide whites on a set of flame red
wheels with the chrome V/8 Ford dog-dish caps and super nice
brightwork. Powered by a strong running & nicely equipped 383CID
Stroker V/8, this is not for the faint of heart! Edelbrock
Performer 6073 heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake,
Edelbrock 600 CFM electronic choke carb, a billet serpentine belt
system, MSD distributor & Blaster 2 coil, headers and a set of
custom polished aluminum "383 Stroker" valve covers, among other
things, add to the overall appearance AND the performance up under
the hood! The Stroker is teamed up to a 700R4 automatic
transmission that is sending power out back into the braced-up Ford
9" rear end. Some tubular A-arms, a Mustang II front suspension,
4-wheel disc braking, and a set of adjustable coil overs in the
rear make sure that the handling is as good as the power. And then
you open the doors to that beautiful, lipstick red interior! There
is something about the interior of this car that just screams
"Custom". From the billet accessories like the door pulls, handles
& window cranks on the custom door panels, to the custom steering
wheel, super bright woven carpets, the high boy shifter, the
throwback designed Dolphin gauges in the custom billet cluster and
the "Captains Bench" front seating, the build quality of this
interior is evident as soon as you open the door! Even the
headliner & the rear cargo area behind the seats were done to the
highest of standards. This 1940 Ford is ready to be enjoyed again &
it might as well be you doing all that enjoying!
