1963 Bentley S3 Continental Drophead Coupe. Dawn blue with crimson leather. 6.2 liter V8, dual SU carburetors, 4-speed automatic transmission. Period correct A/C. Possibly the nicest in existence, only car to ever win the Rolls-Royce Owners Club "Best of Show" and "Royce Memorial" trophies TWICE.
Considered to be the last of the true coachbuilt Bentleys, the S3 Continental was astoundingly expensive when new, and only a handful survive today. Beautifully finished in the original Dawn Blue color, the paint and bodywork are show quality throughout, with excellent panel gaps and as-new panel finishing. Chrome and other brightwork is spectacular, from the amazing NOS front grille, to the unique side trim to the rear bumper with the trademark Bentley logo emblazoned on its surface. The convertible top is correct and fits beautifully with no signs of shrinkage, wrinkling, or damage.
The interior is beautifully crafted from Bridge of Weir leather in crimson, with matching burgundy carpets and beige piping and trim. Expertly maintained, it retains a warm, inviting look that is typical of hand-built British automobiles. The dashboard shows no signs of age and is full of functioning Smiths gauges and a later Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo system. Air conditioning was added at some point in the past using correct components and fittings throughout, and everything is in superb working order. The trunk is upholstered to match and includes a complete tool kit, tire inflator, and built-in battery tender with shutoff.
The engine bay and chassis have been detailed for show, and the all-aluminum 6.2-liter Rolls-Royce OHV V8 runs brilliantly. Barely audible at idle, it motors down the road with an impossible smoothness and only a slight burble from the tailpipe. Fed by twin SU carburetors under a unique air cleaner that pivots out of the way for service, the engine develops an estimated 200 horsepower. The chassis shows no signs of damage or significant repairs in the past, and has been maintained for many years by factory-trained Rolls-Royce/Bentley experts E.F. Murphy of Columbus, Ohio. Recently serviced and ready to drive and show at the very highest levels.
Sale of this car includes accessory bug guard, many spare parts, original manuals, and a custom-fitted car cover.
