MARIO ANDRETTI SIGNED HER DASHBOARD! This low mileage, Florida car, known as "Roberta" is near original and in great shape.
She was inspected in 2004 by Ken Peloki, recently retired from Sam Galloway Ford of Ft Meyers, FL. He was the head of their restoration department. At that time, Mr Peloki was also a curator at the Thomas Edison Museum doing the care and maintenance of the collection of cars gifted to Edison by his neighbor Henry Ford.
According to Mr Peloki, Roberta is equipt with factory trac-loc traction bars, meaning it was probably intended for use in drag racing.
In 2004, Mr Peloki installed a 1969 Mustang SSBC front end kit; spindles, brakes, etc. with drilled and slotted rotors for super stopping power. He also installed a C4 re-manufactured automatic transmission; street and strip.
When asked "Is this a real GT?", Mr Peloki remarked "there's more GT here than not."
What makes this car unique is that the dashboard, passenger side was signed in 2006 by Mario Andretti at the Harmond Tire 75th Anniversary celebration in Ellsworth, Maine.
Mario believes the car to be an original Fairlaine and to his recollection thinks it is the only Fairlaine ever signed by him.
According to the leading national classic car insurance company, Haggerty Insurance, the stated value in 2004 was 65K prior to Mario signature.
Since then she has not been revalued to include Mario's signature.
Lastly, although she resides in Maine, the car for the past 6 years has been covered and stabled during the off season and has only been shown while attending golfing competitions, parades and cars shows.
You'll love her, Mario did! And you'll look great in her, everyone does! Give me a call!
