In the automotive world whispers started popping up in 1965 in
regards to code name "Panther". This would ultimately turn out to
be Chevrolet's competitor to the now released Mustang. The Camaro
first entered the scene in 1967 and proved to be a popular entry
into the muscle car world. There were 4 distinct generations before
they were discontinued in 2002. That would be short lived though as
the Camaro was reintroduced in 2009 when the retro styled muscle
cars exploded in popularity. This 1970 Camaro was the first year
for the 2nd generation and was a completely new car. Due to the
experience received from racing the 1st gen car Chevrolet Engineers
were able to incorporate a bunch of improvements to the chassis as
well as braking and handling. The completely redesign bodies
incorporated a fastback roofline, wider doors, no quarter windows
and a new roof construction for better rollover protection. This
car has been completely restored from top to bottom and is in
excellent condition. The body is all solid and painted in a very
nice Orange paint with dual White racing stripes that run from the
nose to the rear deck spoiler. The unique grill design looks great
and the split front bumpers nicely chromed. It also has a Black
chin spoiler which is in good condition as well. The glass is in
good condition throughout and is tinted. The 18 inch Gray American
Racing wheels look great on the car and are wrapped with Sumitomo
tires.
Under the hood is a nicely built 355 V8 motor that runs great.
Everything is very clean under the hood with things like the inner
fenders and firewall all being nicely painted to match the body.
The undercarriage is no different. The motor is fitted with
polished valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, Edelbrock intake and 4
barrel carburetor. It also has all options with power brakes, power
steering, and AC making it a comfortable car to cruise around in.
It has an aftermarket aluminum radiator under a Orange painted
support and also has electric fans to keep it running cool. The 5
sped manual transmission shifts smoothly and makes it super fun to
drive. The custom dual exhaust delivers a great sound and during
the rebuild the car received 4 wheel disc brakes.
The interior has been completely redone with all new Black
upholstery. It is in excellent condition throughout. The dual
bucket seats have headrests and between them is a floor mounted
Hurst shifter. The dash has a mostly stock layout but has been
upgraded with aftermarket gauges, Vintage AC/Heat controls, vents
and a new radio. The steering wheel is the original style with
Chevy bowtie horn button. The trunk is all solid and has a
houndstooth mat in place.
