Production ceased in March of 1984 for the last of the 10th Generation of full-sized, rear wheel drive luxury Oldsmobiles. This was called a D body for 1984 only. The next generation was called the C body and was front wheel drive.
This particular car was sold new and lived its entire life in Iowa. It was known around the Quad Cities area for many years and was always kept in a climate-controlled garage and not winter driven. A collector of big GM luxury cars purchased it 12 years ago. He had decided to start reducing his collection due to his advancing years. This was a car that attracted me.
We have the original purchase documents, window decal and title for this car. In addition, the most recent owner kept all maintenance records. The original Owner’s Manual and Warranty booklet are in the glovebox.
It has only been driven 48,425 miles. When you see the car in person, you will realize that this claim is accurate. The condition of the car is very good. It is very original in every aspect. The White paint and Landau Top look exceptional. The Brown leather interior is exquisite.
This car is equipped with the 307 Rocket V8 engine and 200-4R overdrive transmission. The rear axles contains 2.73:1 gearing and an Anti-Spin differential. The powertrain was designed for economy, as gas prices and shortages were fresh in consumer’s minds. This powertrain is smooth, but it lacks for power and torque.
This car is very well equipped. The standard equipment list for the Ninety-Eight Regency was quite long. Quite a few options were added when this car was ordered.
You will enjoy power steering and brakes, power seats, power windows and locks and a power trunk release. This car has Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Soft-Ray tinted glass, tilt steering, rear defogger, pulse wipers and a block heater.
The sounds system is AM/FM/Cassette in stereo with front and rear speakers. The radio also has a 40 channel CB function. The outside mirrors are both remote controlled. The factory floor mats are color matched to the carpet. The Brown leather upholstery is a great option. This car has courtesy lighting and lit visor vanity mirrors. There is a Reminder Package.
The white paint and top are set off by pinstripes. There are fender skirts to make the body lines flow. The wheels are adorned with wire wheel covers. There are exterior moldings to protect the car and add to the appearance. Corner lamps help light your way when making a turn.
When the most recent owner purchased the car, he had the front suspension and steering rebuilt, Coker tires installed and the front end aligned. He felt the transmission was not performing properly, so it was rebuilt. He has added 3000 miles since. Recently, he had the car serviced, the belts changed and the Air Conditioning system converted to 134a Freon.
The paint is very close to flawless. This car has never been rusty. There are just a few very small touch-ups. The rear bumper filler is cracked, yet still present. The bumpers are perfect. The top is supple and attractive.
I would be proud to take this car to any show. In fact, the most recent owner proudly displayed it at the Oldsmobile Nationals and received recognition. This car will drive you there in comfort and style with great reliability.
These are wonderful cars to drive. In addition to the fantastic feel of the generously padded seats, the combination of the weight and the suspension make these cars ride very smoothly.
This is the most modern and last of the huge luxurious rear wheel drive Oldsmobiles. It is the last of an era and the last of an experience. If you love Oldsmobiles, like I do, you know and understand the significance of this car.
