Description

I am selling my 1933 Chevrolet 4-door sedan that has been meticulously cared for since 2004. This streetrod is a creation by Russ Tinsley of Russ’s Rod shop, located in Pickens, SC. Work began with the purchase of a new Fat Man stage III chassis, featuring coil over shocks front and rear, GM disk brakes, Ford 8” rearend, rear 4-bar links, and front and rear swaybars. Power is created by an IROC Hi-Output tuned port fuel injected 5.0L Street & Performance equipped V8, rebuilt by Carolina Rod Shop. A 700R4 automatic tranny with overdrive transfers power to the road.
The body was stripped of all wood, and replaced with steel framing. Remote door openers replaced the original door handles, and invisible door hinges were fitted. A 4-piece Rootlieb hood was fitted to cover the engine. A second set of latches were designed and fabricated so we can cruise with or without the hood side panels, exposing the polished aluminum engine/components. Converting back to using all four hood panels takes about 10 minutes. Fenders, running boards, grille shell, lower rear gas tank cover panel, and front center section are fiberglass. The roof opening was filled using the top from a 1990 Suzuki Samurai. With the body work completed, a custom shade of green base coat and clear coat was applied, and a simple graphic design was applied.
The interior includes reclining front bucket seats and a rear bench seat. Under the rear seat is a Kenwood KAC-745 Power Amplifier with filters for the stereo system. Behind the rear seat is a 10” sub woofer, and a Kenwood 10 disk CD changer. The car has a total of 7 speakers. Seat belts are installed for front and rear passengers. The overhead console, up front, houses the Kenwood KRC-3006 Stereo Receiver and front dome light. A new center console was fabricated in 2012, and houses the controls for the power windows, Vintage air, lights, wipers, 12v auxiliary connection, and a row of toggle switches that controls engine and frame lights, electric fan, and power antenna. Cruise control was also installed in 2012.
Since buying this car we have enjoyed several years of trouble free driving. It has been shown multiple times, collecting numerous (65) awards, including two Best of Show, 8-1st place, 7-2nd place, and many misc. awards.
I have owned and driven older coupes and pick-ups in the past. Having the additional interior space offered by a sedan is really appreciated while touring with family and friends. Particularly when making an ice Cream run with our grand children, or chauffeuring them to their Junior and/or Senior proms.
