This has been a long restoration project for me. I got the car 15 years ago in absolute 4-flat tire, rat-nest interior, barn-find condition. It's been a long road of restoring, modifying, and otherwise improving. There are holes drilled in places that make you scratch your head (why the hell?), plenty of re-engineering some jack-legged modifications by the previous owner (son-of-a...), and a couple dings in the paint (10 year paint). People have asked if it's "all-original"... really?... OF COURSE NOT! It's been ground-up restored, and not to original condition. It's not a pristine example of a factory mustang. It's not going to win any concours awards. It IS however a fuel injected, 5 speed "driver's car". My goal was to build a 65 coupe with the spirit of, say, a 93 Cobra R, and a touch of that Trans Am Road Racing style. It's fast, holds the road, has a great disposition for cruising, it's reliable, and cranks up as soon as you hit the starter. It also turns heads like nothing else. Be ready to have everyone waving and giving thumbs-up. I've also had this listing for a couple years now, and the price does go up as I do more work on it. Anyone buying this car should know that a car like this is never finished.
Engine:
325+hp.
5.0L + Cam + well ported 289 heads (seriously, the porting is beautiful!)
10.5:1 compression
GT40 EFI intake
MAF A9P computer
MSD Ignition
Long-tube Headers
Included is a polished SN89 Paxton supercharger (pictured installed). It's ported and features an upgraded impellar. Two pulleys included, one will push 9-11 psi and the other 13-14 psi. Not only are these blowers getting harder to come by, but it's doubly rare to find one with the "motorsports upgrades". A lot of people have asked me if I will reinstall it. I will not because a supercharged 5.0L requires lots of attention and commitment to proper tuning, etc. But the kit is complete, tailored for the car, and it has been installed and run. You can put it on yourself in an afternoon. Then take it to your local tuner and be ready to drop some dough for dyno tuning. Besides, it's blazing fast as is and there's no reason to install the supercharger without 4 wheel power disc brakes. (Which I may get around to doing if I keep it much longer)
Drivetrain:
T5z 5 speed
Pro 5.0 shifter
Cable clutch actuation
Zoom clutch
Lakewood scattershield
Aluminum driveshaft
8" 4.11 trac-loc rear
Interior:
New seat covers, carpet, headliner, etc
JME gauge cluster with Auto Meter gauges (white faced)
Black vinyl center console
Sony speakers x4
Suspension:
All new suspension components (control arms, etc.)
1 3/4" upper control arm drop
Magna springs, shocks and sway bars
Manual steering box is nice and tight
Fresh drum brakes (four-wheel manual drums, just to be clear)
If you're looking for a mostly complete road racer, drag racer, or just a street cruiser, then this will suit you nicely. If I had the time to add disc brakes and a roll-cage, I'd probably be at the track every weekend. Lacking those, she's just as much fun driven slowly around town.
