Vehicle Description
Often credited with creating and popularizing the "personal luxury
car", the legendary Ford Thunderbird is renowned for its blend of
sports car and luxury car characteristics as well as its large
engine options and attractive styling. This particular example, a
gorgeous 1966 model T-Bird, is a true survivor car with a single
repaint and only 101,410 original miles showing on the odometer!
Given the car's age, milage like that reflects extraordinary care
over the decades. Popping open the hood reveals a massive 428 C.I.
V8 breathing through a 4-barrel carburetor, which allows this
T-Bird to glide down the interstate effortlessly. Torque is put to
the pavement through a smooth-shifting 3-speed automatic
transmission, which spins the wheels through a positraction rear
axle with 3.00:1 gearing to enhance the car's handling
capabilities. The exterior of this T-Bird really helps it stand
out, with its laser-straight, sculpted bodylines. The integrated
front headlights, striking tan vinyl top, acres of stunning chrome
brightwork, and the distinctive Thunderbird logo positioned on the
grill all help this T-Bird to stick out like a sore thumb at any
car show. Finished with a singular repaint since new, the R-code
"Ivy Green Iridescent" paint on this color is the same shade it
came with from the factory and still looks great laid out over this
Thunderbird's angular body. The floors, frame, trunk and door jambs
are described as being very solid, indicating the quality of this
car's undercarriage and the care it has had over its life! Opening
the twin doors reveals the true highlight of this car: the
interior. Fabulous mid-60s style abounds, the "Ivy Gold" vinyl trim
being in very nice shape adorning the patterned bucket seats,
center console, and curved rear seats. As to be expected from the
height of mid-60s style, there's also plenty of chrome, swooping
trim lines, and additional woodgrain trim to help give the cabin
some additional luxury flair. Furthermore, a swing-away steering
wheel and power windows make this Thunderbird's interior a great
place to be! Other options on this fantastic T-Bird include power
steering, brand new power brakes, front disc brakes, a power
driver's seat, an original AM pushbutton radio, an overhead
console, and a sweet-sounding single exhaust. The car rides on a
sleek set of original T-Bird wheels wrapped with thinline whitewall
tires for a factory-fresh, period-correct look! With a massive 428
V8 under the hood and a 3-speed automatic backing it up, this car
runs and cruises down the road like few others will. It's a real
survivor with an uncommon (and attractive!) trim and paint
combination, so don't let this beautiful '66 Thunderbird pass you
by!
