The Falcon was Ford's first offering in the compact car market
competing with other compacts models produced in the U.S. such as
the Plymouth Valiant and Chevrolet Corvair. The Ford Falcon was
produced in the U.S. from 1960 to 1970, during which Ford produced
three different generations of the Falcon. This 1962 Ford Falcon is
an excellent, restored example of the first generation Falcon. This
Falcon presents in overall excellent condition benefitting from a
repaint in its current Turquoise exterior paint. The Falcon's
Turquoise exterior is in excellent condition and is nicely
complimented by its factory chrome and stainless trim and a set of
Mustang steel wheels fitted with "Shoebox" Ford hubcaps and wrapped
in new raised white letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The
Falcon's custom Grey tweed interior has been tastefully done and is
in excellent condition throughout. The factory gauge cluster has
been tastefully upgraded with a custom stainless surround fitted
with Autometer gauges. Before 1963, only a small inline 6 cylinder
engine was offered to power these great little cars. So if you
desired the great muscle car sound and driving experience that only
a V8 can provide, a V8 had to be sourced from another model and
transplanted into the Falcon. That is exactly what we have here in
this beautiful Ford Falcon. Powering this Falcon is a 289 cubic
inch V8 backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. The engine swap
was very well done and looks factory-esque sitting in the Falcons
small engine bay. Both the engine and transmission perform just as
they should and have no problem setting you back in your seat when
the mood strikes to open up all four barrels of the powerful 289.
This Falcon produces an intoxicating exhaust note thanks to the 289
V8 breathing through long tube headers feeding a custom dual
exhaust system. Power is transferred to the rear tires via a Ford
8" rear end fitted with 3.50:1 final drive gears and a Detroit
locker. If you are in the market for an excellent, turn-key Ford
Falcon that runs, drives, sounds and presents better than it did
from the factory and would present very well at any car show or
cruise-in, then you will want to take a very close look at this
gorgeous 1962 Ford Falcon.
