Vehicle Description
Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present for sale this custom built
1971 Buick Skylark. The 1971 Buick Skylark is a stylish and elegant
mid-size car that epitomizes American luxury and performance during
the early 1970s. With its sleek lines, distinctive styling, and
comfortable interior, the Skylark represented Buick's commitment to
blending sophistication with driving pleasure. This is a
high-quality Pro-Tour/Street build with high quality components and
craftsmanship. This is not your typical 1971 Skylark, as the motor,
transmission, fuel system, turbo system, and suspension have
undergone extensive upgrades in this build resulting in over 800
horsepower. The vehicle is equipped with a LM7 5.3L motor, a Brian
Tooley Stage 3 Turbo Cam with rings gap to 20000, LS7 lifter, BTR
valve train, LS9 Head Gaskets. The motor has a Melling High Volume
oil pump and Vic Jr. Intake w/Edelbrock elbow. It utilizes MSD
ignition wires, BR7EF Spark plugs, and a 90mm throttle body. The
motor has ARP head bolts. The engine is cooled by an electric fan
and Griffin aluminum radiator. The turbo system is a Borg Warner
Turbo S485 w/Turbo Blanket including JGS 60mm Blow off valve and
Precision 46mm Wastegate and a Treadstone Intercooler TRV25
(1000hp) 4" hot side and 5" cold side. The vehicle is supported by
an anti-sway bar in the front, Competition Engineering shocks in
the rear, with upper & lower control arms and an adjustable 1-?
Drag Bar. Power is transferred to the 9" rear end by a built TH400
3 speed manual transmission operated by a Hurst Pistol-Grip quarter
stick shifter. The fuel system includes Siemens Deka 80LB
injectors, and Aeromotive A1000 Fuel pump and Aeromotive Boost
Reference EFI Regulator. There is no rust on the vehicle, and the
frame has been painted the original exterior Code 75 Fire Red color
in new PO4 Red base coat clear coat paint. While the odometer reads
just over 70,000 for the vehicle, there are less than 10,000 on the
motor build, and less than 5,000 miles since the transmission and
rear end were installed. The vehicle has been dynoed with 716-wheel
horsepower. Vehicle has manual steering and stops with front and
rear manual disk brakes and is equipped with polished aluminum
wheels. The interior features bench seats believed to have updated
Sandalwood cover done prior to current ownership. Gauges including
tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure, and voltage meter all work
properly. The vehicle also is equipped with an AM/FM/CD Player. The
battery has been relocated to the trunk. The current owner
purchased it in 2019 and the vehicle was appraised at $42K in
September of 2021. Overall, the 1971 Buick Skylark represents a
harmonious blend of style, comfort, and performance that defined
Buick's approach to luxury automobiles in the early 1970s. For more
